Job description

Leeco Steel is the leading steel plate distributor in North America that services customers with the carbon, HSLA and alloy steel plate needed to build critical infrastructure. Our accelerated growth in the Midwest and East territories has created a need for an additional Sales Representative in our Lisle, IL office to help us service existing customers and continue expanding our customer base. This position requires in-person attendance.
Responsibilities
  • Maintain and strengthen relationships with a roster of current customers for whom the Sales Rep will be primarily responsible.
  • Grow sales by acquiring new steel plate customers.
  • Keep up-to-date on current industry trends, analyze market conditions, and report significant information to Sales Managers and customers.
  • Forecast future sales by month, quarter, and year.
  • Review distributor performance of orders received, shipments and product quantities. Take corrective action as necessary.
  • Participate in company and distributor trade shows.
  • Attend regional meetings and participate in sales training and product knowledge sessions as required.
  • Prepare and submit required reports in a timely manner.
  • Establish price, credit and terms in accordance with standard procedures.
  • Negotiate mutually agreeable terms with customers and vendors.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 1-2 years of sales experience (Preferred, but not required).
  • Eager to learn the ins and outs of a dynamic steel industry.
  • Friendly and personable, comfortable making phone calls and in-person visits to customers and capable of developing long-lasting relationships with them.
  • Motivated to grow Leeco's sales and their own personal income.
  • Extremely organized, able to manage a roster of existing and potential customers and schedule the necessary contacts.
  • Detail-oriented, capable of reviewing written order confirmations and spotting any inaccuracies.
  • An excellent writer who can communicate professionally via e-mail with both customers and Leeco team members.
