Your responsibilities as a staff assistant vary greatly depending on the business for which you work, especially within the government, education, or aviation, but your general duties involve administrative support. You are expected to provide support to other staff members to help them complete their assigned work more efficiently. This can sometimes include supervisory duties. You spend a lot of time answering phones and emails, scheduling appointments, organizing, filing, and preparing documents, sorting mail, tracking deliverables and receivables, assisting with the budget, ensuring correct order entry, and providing quality customer service. You also answer questions and greet customers in office settings.
