POSITION DESCRIPTION

Staff Assistant

  1. OVERVIEW OF POSITION. The Staff Assistant is a key position responsible for providing administrative support to the Firm’s Attorneys and Attorney Teams. Being a Staff Assistant at Baylor Evnen is a unique opportunity for college students, or anyone else, to learn about a Law Firm from a business perspective. Staff Assistants are valued members of the team who complete tasks that full-time staff do not have time to complete within the workday.
  1. REPORTING STRUCTURE. The Staff Assistant works closely with office staff and attorneys and will report directly to the Operations Manager of the Firm.
  1. HOURS AND STATUS. This is a part-time role. Baylor Evnen respects school commitments for students, so work hours are revised every semester to fit with class schedules. At Baylor Evnen, you have the opportunity to learn office skills and to develop a professional stride. Many of our former Staff Assistants have been accepted to law school or other professional programs.

  1. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS. From the mundane job of emptying the dishwasher to the detail attentiveness of a copy project, you will have many different duties and responsibilities.

  • Client hospitality with beverages
  • Cleaning conference rooms
  • Copying documents or replicating entire files
  • Retrieving & Returning closed files in the basement
  • Filing of documents in paper files
  • Driving errands to court and other locations within Lincoln. Occasionally this may include driving to Omaha.
  • Collecting all recyclables for weekly pick-up.
  • Stocking supplies
  • Loading and unloading the dishwasher
  • Taking mail and express delivery mail to appropriate drop locations.
  • Other duties as requested
