As a solutions engineer, you usually work as part of a team to provide support for both the business and customers. Part of your job duties may involve developing training programs and providing advanced technical support. You spend most of your time working in front of a computer, troubleshooting problems and developing solutions. You must be able to think on your feet and have advanced knowledge of hardware and software limitations and specifications to succeed in this position.

Outstanding communication, active listening, and adaptability are crucial soft skills to understand client needs and present tailored solutions effectively. These skills and qualities are essential for bridging the gap between technical offerings and client requirements, ensuring project success and customer satisfaction.

Job description

Overview:

Working at Atlassian

Atlassians can choose where they work – whether in an office, from home, or a combination of the two. That way, Atlassians have more control over supporting their family, personal goals, and other priorities. We can hire people in any country where we have a legal entity.

As the Manager of the Enterprise Solutions Architect team for DX, you will lead a high-performing team of technical advisors dedicated to driving the growth of the DX product (getdx.com). You will be responsible for scaling our pre-sales technical strategy, coaching SAs through complex Enterprise implementations, and acting as a key bridge between Customer Success, Product, and Engineering leadership to ensure our platform meets the needs of the world’s most sophisticated engineering organizations.

Responsibilities:
  • Team Development: Recruit, onboard, and mentor a world-class team of Solutions Architects. Foster a culture of technical excellence, consultative selling, and continuous learning.

  • Implementation Strategy & Support: Act as a player-coach on high-stakes deals. Provide strategic oversight on Proof-of-Concepts (POCs) and Pilots, ensuring the team is effectively mapping DX capabilities to Enterprise business outcomes.

  • Process Optimization: Standardize and scale implementation playbooks to improve team efficiency and win rates.

  • Resource Allocation: Manage the distribution of SAs across our enterprise and strategic customers, balancing workload and aligning expertise with specific customer needs.

  • Cross-Functional Advocacy: Serve as the "Voice of the Customer" in leadership meetings. Partner with Product and Engineering to prioritize roadmap items based on technical friction identified during the sales cycle.

  • Performance Metrics: Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for the SA team

Qualifications:

Leadership & Strategy:

  • Experience: 5+ years in Pre-Sales/Solutions Engineering, with at least 2+ years in a formal leadership or team lead capacity.

  • Enterprise Expertise: Proven track record of navigating complex, multi-stakeholder cycles within Fortune 500 accounts.

  • Operational Mindset: Experience building or refining technical sales processes (e.g., POC scoping documents, technical discovery templates).

Technical Depth:

  • Engineering Context: Deep understanding of the SDLC, DORA metrics, and the SPACE framework. You should be able to speak "Peer-to-Peer" with a VP of Engineering or CTO.

  • Modern Stack: Familiarity with APIs, SQL, and Git workflows. While you may not be coding daily, you must be able to review the technical solution designs of your team.

Consultative Skills:

  • Executive Presence: Exceptional ability to present to C-suite stakeholders, pivoting between deep technical details and high-level business value.

  • Conflict Resolution: Ability to manage technical objections and navigate "hard no's" from prospect security or architecture teams.
