Position Summary
 

The Slitter Operator is responsible for operating and monitoring slitting equipment in a manufacturing environment to ensure efficient production and high-quality output. This role involves material handling, machine setup, quality inspection, and maintaining a safe and productive work area.

 
 

Key Responsibilities

  • Machine Operation & Setup
     
    • Load and unload materials into the slitting  machinery.
    • Set up, adjust, and calibrate equipment according to  production specifications.
    • Monitor machine performance and make adjustments to  maintain optimal operation.
  • Quality Assurance
     
    • Perform routine visual and dimensional inspections of  finished products.
    • Ensure slitted materials meet quality, accuracy, and customer specifications.
  • Maintenance & Troubleshooting
     
    • Conduct regular machine maintenance to prevent  breakdowns.
    • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve mechanical or operational issues promptly.
  • Production Efficiency
     
    • Ensure machines run efficiently to meet daily  production targets.
    • Maintain accurate documentation of production output and any issues encountered.
  • Safety & Compliance
     
    • Follow all safety protocols, procedures, and guidelines.
    • Maintain a clean and safe work environment to  minimize hazards.

Operating:

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity required.
  • Safe and effective machine operation, including monitoring and  control of the equipment to maintain conformance to  customer specifications and quality  standards.
  • Efficient operation of equipment to maximize yields and uptime.
  • A thorough understanding of machine components and spooling  equipment, with the ability to set up orders and troubleshoot problems  when necessary.
  • Follow standard operating procedures and guidelines for make-ready,  troubleshooting, security, record keeping, and quality  testing.
  • Perform set changes in a timely fashion utilizing a team approach.
  • Perform final visual quality inspection of end product and  paperwork.
  • Inspection of equipment and work area for safe operating practices 

Reporting 

  • Ability to work with computer systems, i.e. Access, Excel, Word,  Outlook, and related monitoring and control functions.
  • Ability to process and maintain records, reports and paperwork for      proper documentation including time sheets, inventory transactions and product labels.
  • Follow all operating procedures.

Requirements

.  

  • Previous manufacturing experience required..
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be mathematically advanced to a degree of multiplication and      division of fractions and decimal system. 
  • Ability to read and write legibly and keep accurate records, as well      as follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Must be willing to work shift work, overtime, and weekends as      required.
  • Ability to withstand heat or cold- The plant is not climate      controlled. 
  • Ability to remain on feet for majority of work hours.Â
