Fabrication Machine Operator

Job Summary

The Fabrication Machine Operator is responsible for operating and monitoring fabrication machinery used to cut, form, bend, punch, or otherwise process metal materials according to production specifications. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, safety-conscious, detail-oriented, and able to work efficiently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Operate fabrication machinery and equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Set up machines according to work orders, blueprints, or production instructions.
  • Load and unload raw materials and finished products.
  • Measure materials and finished parts using measuring tools such as tape measures, calipers, and gauges.
  • Inspect parts for accuracy, quality, and proper dimensions.
  • Make basic machine adjustments as needed to maintain production requirements.
  • Monitor machines during operation and report equipment issues or defects.
  • Follow production schedules and meet daily output goals.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Follow all company safety policies and OSHA requirements.
  • Properly use personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Assist with material handling and other fabrication tasks as needed.
  • Complete production paperwork and quality-control documentation.
  • Communicate production issues, material shortages, or equipment problems to supervisors.

Qualifications

  • Previous manufacturing, fabrication, or machine operating experience preferred.
  • Ability to read and understand work instructions and basic blueprints.
  • Basic knowledge of measurements and fractions.
  • Ability to use hand tools and measuring equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality.
