To thrive as a Fabrication Welder, you need strong welding skills, blueprint reading ability, and a relevant certification such as AWS or equivalent. Familiarity with tools like MIG, TIG, and arc welders, as well as fabrication machinery and safety protocols, is typically required. Attention to detail, problem-solving, and effective teamwork are crucial soft skills for achieving quality results and maintaining safety standards. These skills ensure precise fabrication, structural integrity, and efficient collaboration in demanding manufacturing environments.

What are some common challenges faced by fabrication welders on the job?

Fabrication welders often encounter challenges such as interpreting complex blueprints, working with tight tolerances, and adapting to different types of metals and welding processes. They may also need to adjust quickly to changing project specifications or timelines and maintain a high standard of safety in environments where heavy machinery and hot materials are present. Collaborating effectively with engineers, fabricators, and quality inspectors is key to ensuring that welded components meet both functional and safety requirements.

Job description

Elite Fabrication Welder

Location: Phoenix, Arizona
Company: Railcraft USA
Job Type: Full-Time

About Railcraft

Railcraft is a leading manufacturer of custom aluminum railing systems with over 40 years of industry experience. We specialize in high-end architectural railings, custom fabrication, balconies, canopies, and specialty aluminum products throughout North America. Our Phoenix facility is growing rapidly, and we are looking for exceptional talent to join our team.

Position Overview

Railcraft is seeking an Elite Fabrication Welder with a minimum of 5 years of fabrication welding experience. This is not an entry-level production welding position. We are looking for a highly skilled craftsman who takes pride in precision, quality, and efficiency.

The ideal candidate will have experience fabricating custom aluminum products from drawings, maintaining tight tolerances, and producing architecturally finished work that meets the highest standards.

Red Seal Certification or equivalent trade qualification is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Fabricate custom aluminum railing systems, canopies, decks, and architectural components
  • Perform high-quality MIG and TIG welding on aluminum materials
  • Read and interpret fabrication drawings and shop drawings
  • Layout, fit, tack, and assemble components accurately
  • Maintain strict quality standards and dimensional tolerances
  • Operate fabrication equipment including saws, drills, grinders, and welding equipment
  • Inspect completed work to ensure compliance with company standards
  • Work independently with minimal supervision
  • Assist in training and mentoring junior welders when required

Qualifications

Required

  • Minimum 5 years of fabrication welding experience
  • Extensive experience welding aluminum
  • Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings
  • Strong fitting and layout skills
  • High attention to detail
  • Ability to consistently produce clean, high-quality finished products
  • Reliable attendance and strong work ethic

Preferred

  • Red Seal Welder Certification
  • Journeyman Welder Certification
  • Custom fabrication experience
  • Architectural metals experience
  • TIG welding proficiency

What We're Looking For

We are not looking for someone who simply welds parts together.

We are looking for a professional who:

  • Takes ownership of their work
  • Has pride in craftsmanship
  • Solves problems independently
  • Produces work they would be proud to put their name on
  • Wants to be part of building one of the premier aluminum fabrication companies in North America

Compensation

Compensation will be based on experience and skill level.

Top-tier candidates with proven fabrication and aluminum welding experience will be compensated accordingly.
