Job description

Set up, operate, and tend to the Converting Machines.
Essential Functions:
  • Convert various series
  • Operate main control panel to produce the desired outcome of finished product
  • Operate basic settings and controls of the control panel
  • Select the correct recipe on machine for each series of film and make adjustments to rollers
  • Place mother roll on the unwinder and web machine; splice mother roll on to existing web
  • Set and adjusted knives as needed to convert different widths
  • Set up and run delamination where applicable
  • Set up perf jobs and measure them where applicable
  • Verify and adjust back print as needed; adjusting printers and replacing ink cartridge
  • Load/unload material in LTW
  • Inspect and identify machine deficiencies.
  • Perform quality checks on converted rolls ad identify any damage caused by converting machine
  • Work within the Business Express Software (BE) to identify converting jobs and follow booking process.
  • Drives and operates a Powered Industrial Equipment to load/unload product from machine and to clean trim pipes as needed;
  • Maintains production records and appropriate documentation
  • Troubleshoot equipment
  • Use block tags according to the procedure; place blocked rolls in correct area
  • Place IT and Maintenance requests as needed
  • Web converting machine to perf and make necessary adjustments to produce good quality product.
  • Make decision outside of the converting plan and booking process (Ex; when to covert remaining mother roll, when to book a rest roll, etc.)
  • Setup and run re-wheeling to include wearing of the web
  • Change shafts (PSA)
  • Convert 92meters and above
  • Convert various series to include 651, 631, 641, 8800, 810, 813, 3673675, 351, 352, 3751GRA, 3951G, 3951GRA, 3951GHT, 3981RA, 285, 751, 951, 970, 290, 5061, MT80P, as well as special cuts such asD2, D3 and D4 materials
  • Operate additional converting equipment
  • Use color chart to correctly identify color of material
  • Perform quality checks on converted rolls, correcting quality issues caused by the converting machine

Additional Responsibilities:
  • Follows prescribed safety regulations; wear proper PPE.
  • Maintains work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Maintains an optimal level of product quality and adheres to ORAFOL's Quality Program.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Converting Manager/Supervisor or other member of management team.

Education Requirements:
  • High School diploma required.
  • Strong written and oral English communication skills required;

Work Experience:
  • Strong PC skills,
  • Required forklift certification and ability to operate machinery and Powered Industrial Trucks;
  • Previous experience operating machinery, preferred.

Aptitudes & Characteristics:
  • Must have a positive "can do" attitude and a "sense of accountability";
  • Must be a fast learner, driven and self-motivated; strive towards continuous improvement;
  • Ability to work with little to no supervision, multi-task and meet deadlines;
  • Must be able to lift and move objects up to 85 lbs. regularly and up to 200 lbs. occasionally with assistant
  • Required ability to stand for extended periods of time;
  • Must be able to walk, stretch, reach, crawl and grasp objects;
  • Required to bend, stoop, climb, crawl or kneel occasionally;
  • Ability to follow directions, work independently and multi-task in a fast-paced environment;
