Salary: $60,000 to $75,000 per year DOE

Program officers are critical to a nonprofit organization as they oversee program development, seek grants and proposals, oversee budgets, and manage projects. They will staff a development team and head project management as well as implement daily management of activities. Working closely with other managers, vendors, and financial supporters, develop, maintain, and ensure adherence to budgets, including reviewing and executing grant proposals. They also inform about program developments and ongoing activities through reports including an annual report or a weekly, monthly, or quarterly update.


We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Program Officer to join our team. As a Senior Program Officer, you will be responsible for overseeing, implementing and managing the organizations' programs, ensuring successful delivery within scope, budget, and timeline. The Senior Program Officer is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations and oversees all aspects of these programs, including planning, implementation, and evaluation. Ensure compliance of programs guidelines and outcomes, ensures the work flows smoothly and in alignment with set expectations and mission.

Responsibilities:


  • Develop and oversee short- and long-term strategic planning for all programmatic initiatives, in alignment with the organizations mission and goals.
  • Lead and manage multiple programs simultaneously.
  • Work with the Executive Director and Board of Directors to set annual priorities and objectives for the programs department.
  • Design, implement, and evaluate programs and initiatives to support the growth and expansion of the organization.
  • Implement effective program management practices, including risk management and issue resolution.
  • Oversee the development and management of program budgets, ensuring fiscal responsibility and sustainability (resource allocation).
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define program requirements and deliverables.
  • Serve as a thought leader and expert on programmatic best practices, trends, and innovations.
  • Monitor program progress and performance metrics, providing regular updates to internal team and stakeholders.
  • Supervise and mentor direct reports, providing guidance and support to ensure their success in meeting departmental goals.
  • Represent the organization at external events and conferences and build partnerships with other organizations to further the reach and impact of our programs.
  • Write grant proposals and manage grant reporting requirements.
  • Develop and oversee evaluation and assessment tools and processes to measure program effectiveness and outcomes.
  • Conduct program reviews to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
  • Stay abreast of developments in the field and identify opportunities for organizational learning and growth.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices.


Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field; advanced degree preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in program management or related roles
  • Proven track record of successfully managing large-scale programs from initiation to closure
  • Strong knowledge of program management methodologies and tools
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively communicate complex concepts to diverse stakeholders
  • Demonstrated experience in scope management, resource allocation, risk management, and change control
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate teams and drive results
