What is a senior digital accessibility specialist?

A Senior Digital Accessibility Specialist is a professional who ensures that digital products, such as websites and mobile applications, are accessible to people with disabilities. They apply accessibility standards, like the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), to identify and address barriers in digital content. Their work includes conducting audits, providing recommendations, training teams, and collaborating with designers and developers to create inclusive digital experiences. In addition, they often lead accessibility initiatives and help organizations comply with legal requirements such as the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a senior digital accessibility specialist?

To thrive as a Senior Digital Accessibility Specialist, you need expertise in web accessibility standards (such as WCAG), strong knowledge of HTML, CSS, and ARIA, and often a degree in computer science or a related field. Familiarity with accessibility evaluation tools like Axe, WAVE, and screen readers, as well as certifications like CPACC or WAS from IAAP, are commonly required. Excellent communication, problem-solving abilities, and a collaborative mindset help you advocate for accessibility and work effectively with diverse teams. These skills are vital to ensure digital products are inclusive, compliant with legal standards, and usable by people of all abilities.

How does a senior digital accessibility specialist typically collaborate with design and development teams to ensure accessible digital products?

Senior Digital Accessibility specialists often work closely with UX/UI designers and developers from the early stages of a project to ensure accessibility is integrated into the design and code. This collaboration involves reviewing wireframes, conducting accessibility audits, providing feedback, and recommending solutions for issues like color contrast, keyboard navigation, and screen reader compatibility. • Be part of a collaborative, purpose-driven culture where your work truly matters.

Position title: Senior Digital Content Producer

Location/Work arrangement: SWHD Main Office in Phoenix, AZ

Schedule: Full Time โ€“ 40 hours per week

The Senior Digital Content Producer is a hands-on creative and project leader responsible for producing, managing, and optimizing digital content that elevates Southwest Human Developmentโ€™s voice, impact, and visibility. This role blends content creation, storytelling, project management, and channel management, requiring someone who can move seamlessly from concept to execution.

This position plays a critical role in translating the work of SWHD programs into compelling, human-first content across social media, email, and digital platforms. The ideal candidate is both strategic and highly practical: comfortable creating their own photos, videos, graphics, and written content while also managing timelines, stakeholders, and performance outcomes.

What youโ€™ll do

  • Create original, platform-appropriate content for social media, including written posts, graphics, photography, and short-form video, from concept through execution.
  • Produce authentic, accessible visual content using available tools, including smartphones, with a focus on storytelling over high-end production.
  • Write and edit short- and long-form content such as social captions, blog posts, feature stories, and marketing copy aligned with organizational voice.
  • Manage day-to-day social media operations, including planning, scheduling, publishing, and moderating content with a high degree of independence.
  • Monitor social media performance and audience engagement, using insights and trends to refine content strategy and improve results.
  • Update, publish, and maintain website content using a CMS, ensuring accuracy, accessibility, and alignment with organizational messaging.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to translate program updates and campaigns into clear, engaging digital content across web and marketing channels.
  • Develop and execute email marketing campaigns, including content creation, layout, scheduling, and basic performance analysis.
  • Design on-brand graphics and layouts for digital, email, and print materials using Adobe Creative Suite or comparable tools.
  • Capture and develop compelling stories through interviews and collaboration with program staff, translating complex work into human-centered narratives that demonstrate impact.
  • Lead communications projects from planning through completion, managing timelines, priorities, and deliverables while identifying opportunities to improve future efforts.

What youโ€™ll bring

  • Experience creating engaging digital content across social media, websites, email, and other online platforms.
  • Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills, with the ability to create content that is clear, compelling, and audience-centered.
  • Experience producing original content such as graphics, photos, videos, and written pieces.
  • Comfort managing content calendars, publishing across channels, and balancing multiple projects at once.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with internal teams, build strong relationships, and turn ideas into polished final products.
  • Experience using tools such as content management systems, email marketing platforms, analytics tools, or design software.
  • Confidence using performance data and engagement insights to improve future content and campaigns.
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Digital Media, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Possess an insured and reliable vehicle and a valid Arizona driverโ€™s license.
  • Valid Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card, or ability to qualify for a Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card.
