Waycross Seeks New Part-time

Seasonal Cooks -- June through October

$18-20/hour based on Experience

(Potential to transition to year-round)

Reports to: Food Service Director

Waycross Camp and Conference Center, located at 4879 Richards Road, Morgantown, IN 46160, is a year-round 501(c)3 camp, conference, and retreat center.  A ministry of the Episcopal Diocese of Indianapolis, the mission of Waycross is to serve all who seek fellowship, respite, reflection, and growth by providing Christian hospitality and enriching programs.

Position Purpose: The Seasonal Cook works for the Food Service Director to help prepare, and provide healthful and delicious meals for a variety of programs including a camp program that serves 275+ campers annually.  Waycross as an organization is moving towards organic herbs and vegetables as well as trending to local food sources and with an interest in reducing food waste at the center. 

What We Seek: For this position, Waycross seeks a self-starting individual with proven kitchen and food service experience. This position is for someone who is organized, detail-oriented, and capable of building relationships with children, youth, and adults.

Qualifications:

  • Age 20 years or older.
  • A valid driver’s license.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of food preparation experience required.
  • ServSafe or FoodSafe certification or capability.
  • Must complete and maintain Safeguarding God’s Children training and a clear background check.
  • Knowledge of ACA Standards not required, but a plus.

Physical Aspects of the Job:

  • Prolonged standing, walking long distances daily, lifting up to 60 pounds at a time.
  • Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards related to the environment.
  • Physical ability to respond appropriately to situations requiring first aid
  • Ability to operate camp motor vehicles, including passenger vans and utility vehicles.

Compensation

·         Pay $18-20/hour, commensurate with experience.
