Job Description

We are seeking a qualified, responsible, reliable individual to join our company as a Cashier/Scale House Operator. As part of our team, you use a computerized scale to weigh incoming and outgoing vehicles, logging information on the computer relevant to each truck, including vehicle type, tags, and driver. You accurately record this data for billing purposes and perform regular audits to ensure appropriate billing. This position requires computer proficiency. Our ideal candidate has prior experience as Admin. Asst or Cashier doing detail work in transportation, trucking, construction or similar industrial workplace.

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting and ensuring the smooth and safe day to day scale Operator activities in our office and at our scales in our yard.ย 

What you're responsible for:

  • Greeting customers and having good customer service skills
  • Use a computer to record the weights of incoming and outgoing vehicles.
  • Log information accurately into a centralized database
  • Calculate costs for drivers based on vehicle weight.
  • Maintain a safe, organized working environment.
  • Workingย in our offices and yard Scales
  • Supporting the team on the Scale as an attendant, weighing Trucks as they come in & updating reports on the computer.
  • Sorting and processing metal scrapย piecesย 
  • Computer skills needed to enter data & email. (Microsoft Office; outlook, word etc.)
Qualifications

To join our team:

  • General Office experience needed!
  • Past CASHIERย experience is plus!
  • Reading, writing and basic math skills are required.
  • Comfortable working on a computer in Microsoft Office entering info accurately.
  • Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to work independently as well as in a team.ย 
  • Ability to work inside & outside in all-weather conditions.
  • Safety oriented; very important!
  • A high school diploma or GEDย 
  • Computer proficiency
  • Experience in transportation, trucking or in an industrial yard environment is a plus.
  • Experience with radio communication is plus.
