Rogers Group, Inc., headquartered in Nashville, is a privately held aggregates and asphalt highway construction company operating in 13 states with over 3,500 employees. RGI, established in 1908, has the distinction of being recognized as the largest privately held aggregate producer in the United States.
Rogers Group is currently seeking a Scaler Operator at our Bloomington Crushed Stone location, which is an underground mine in Bloomington, IN. This position is responsible for safely operating an excavator with a scaling head attachment to remove loose or unstable rock from mine walls and backs, ensuring ground stability and a safe working environment for all underground personnel.

Day Shift
Wages starting at $25.50/hr. Overall pay will be determined based on candidate's experience and skill set. Candidates with experience operating equipment, specifically in an underground mine environment are preferred.
The successful candidate for this role will have experience operating mining equipment in an underground mining environment, and an uncompromising focus on safety excellence. General work around the quarry and other assigned duties may also be requested. Assigned duties will include:
  • Operate mechanical scaling equipment to remove hazardous ground conditions from mine walls and backs.
  • Inspect ground conditions and identify areas that require scaling or additional support.
  • Coordinate with mine supervisors and team members to follow scaling plans and procedures.
  • Document work performed and report ground control concerns to supervision immediately.
  • Perform daily pre-and post- inspections with appropriate documentation in compliance with company policies
  • Properly follow all company policies and OSHA / MSHA / Environmental regulations for safe working procedures and environment.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Uncompromising focus on safety excellence.
  • At least one-year of proficient experience operating underground mining equipment - such as a roof bolter, face drill, or scaler - is preferred.
  • Experience operating an excavator, Fletcher 4250 Pick Scaler, EC350 with AQ4 Milling Head, or Komatsu PC360 with AQ4 milling head is preferred
  • Willing to work in an underground mining environment.
  • Able to operate underground mining equipment with precision and excellence in a confined space.
  • Must be able to work underground and outside in all types of weather and tolerate being exposed to loud noises.
  • Ability to be coached and to pick up on new tasks quickly.
  • Flexibility to work overtime and weekends when necessary.
  • Self-motivated - able to work without requiring close supervision.
  • Must pass pre-employment drug-screening.
