Department Overview

The Information Technology (IT) organization designs, develops, operates and maintains the technology and telecommunications systems that enable PG&E to meet its commitment to providing safe, reliable and affordable service to customers.

IT partners with the business by increasing capabilities through the development of additional functionality, implementing new technologies, reducing costs, increasing productivity, and facilitating organizational and business effectiveness through enabling technologies.

Position Summary

The Expert SAP Program Manager is a critical member of PG&E's Propel Program's delivery team. Propel is a major business and technology modernization program to unlock customer value by simplifying the way we work together. Propel will migrate PG&E to the new version of SAP, S/4HANA, seizing this unique opportunity for PG&E to standardize business processes, clean the technology core, and enable innovation for breakthrough change across Engineering, Operations, Finance, Supply Chain, Human Resources, and Information Technology. Scope of business processes include Design to Operate (DTO), Source to Pay (STP), Inventory to Deliver (ITD), Forecast to Plan (FTP), Record to Report (RTR) and Hire to Retire (HTR). Solutions include: SAP S/4HANA, SAP ECC, SuccessFactors, Ariba, Fieldglass, EPPM, SAC, BOBJ/BW, BTP and hundreds of non-SAP applications.

The ideal candidate should have experience delivering SAP programs and projects and more recently have success in delivering large complex SAP S4/HANA ERP transformations.

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and the Oakland General Office (OGO) 3 days a week and or based on business needs.  

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Partner with system integrator to develop to support integrated project plan for the SAP ERP transformation, ensuring alignment with Fit-to-Standard and Clean Core principles across all phases-from requirements gathering to deployment.
  • Coordinate with other Program/Project Managers in parallel workstreams
  • Support key planning and stakeholder engagement events/ceremonies such as PI Planning, Retrospectives, backlog refinement, Daily Stand Ups/Daily Operating Reviews, Weekly Operating Reviews/Backlog Refinement
  • Guide teams and leaders in Lean- Agile practices
  • Contribute to comprehensive testing cycles (SIT, UAT), data migration, and cutover planning, ensuring testing and deployment activities align with SAP best practices for clean core and sustainable extensibility.
  • Identify potential risks to the success of projects and develop comprehensive mitigation plans to address these risks proactively
  • Lead cross-functional teams, fostering collaboration and effective communication among team members from different departments to achieve project objectives
  • Regularly update stakeholders on project progress, changes, and any issues that arise, ensuring transparency and alignment with business objectives
  • Support planning of project engagement events and other significant events with key leaders
  • Track project milestones and assess the performance of project to ensure they meet the set objectives and deliver the expected outcomes
  • Ensure project teams have the necessary resources, including personnel, technology, and tools, for timely and efficient execution of their tasks
  • Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including project plans, communication plans, risk logs, and status reports, to ensure all project information is accurately recorded and accessible
  • Drive continuous improvement and innovation in the delivery of IT programs by identifying opportunities for process enhancements and implementing best practices
  • Support forecasting project resource, material, and costs within standard PG&E tools
  • Exercise autonomy, independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance with broad scope and high complex.

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience
  • 8 years of relevant IT Project Management experience building and leveraging solutions utilizing SAP Technologies or related experience 

Desired:

  • Masters Degree in job-related discipline or equivalent experience.
  • PMI-Project Management Institute PMP-Project Management Professional certification.
  • Experience with large / complex SAP S4/HANA program ($MM+ budget) with project management responsibilities.
  • Applied experience in SAP Activate Methodology, Waterfall and/or Scaled Hybrid Agile methodologies used by system integrators.
  • Delivered large complex SAP programs as delivery lead from Big 4 consulting firm.
  • Experience in working in global setting where global design was established and realized.
  • Broad technical architecture knowledge SAP S/4HANA, SAP ECC, BTP and SAP.

Compensation

PG&E is providing the full salary/pay range for this position.  The actual amount paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, internal equity, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, and geographic location.  The range to reasonably expect will be between the minimum and midpoint listed below.  The final decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to the factors above. This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E's discretionary incentive compensation programs. 

Bay Area Minimum: $129,000     

Bay Area Midpoint: $168,000

Bay Area Maximum: $207,000
