Job description

Job Purpose
The Business Analyst plays a critical role in shaping how the organization leverages Salesforce to operate at scale. The role is responsible for translating complex business needs into well-defined, scalable solutions by acting as the primary interface between Salesforce users and Salesforce engineering teams.
Beyond requirements definition, the Business Analyst is expected to challenge assumptions, improve problem framing, and guide stakeholders toward sustainable, platform-aligned solutions that balance business outcomes with long-term maintainability.
The role also owns end-to-end coordination of assigned Salesforce initiatives, ensuring disciplined execution while upholding a high standard of clarity, quality, and architectural integrity.
Key Responsibilities
Salesforce User Engagement & Analysis

  • Work directly with Salesforce users across departments to understand workflows, pain points, and objectives
  • Ask probing questions to uncover root problems, not just requested features
  • Challenge unclear, conflicting, or solution-biased requests and reframe them into clear problem statements

Requirements Definition & Engineering Enablement

  • Translate user needs into well-structured Epics, user stories, acceptance criteria, and definitions of done
  • Ensure requirements are complete, testable, and aligned with Salesforce platform capabilities and constraints
  • Proactively recommend Salesforce-native or simplified solutions where appropriate
  • Identify edge cases, dependencies, data impacts, and downstream process implications early

Backlog & Solution Preparation

  • Build, maintain, and refine high-quality backlogs for Salesforce and related platforms (e.g., client portals)
  • Decompose Epics into logically sequenced, sprint-ready user stories
  • Ensure work entering engineering is stable, prioritized, and clearly understood

Salesforce Initiative Delivery

  • Own assigned Salesforce initiatives from intake through launch
  • Plan timelines, milestones, dependencies, and delivery checkpoints
  • Coordinate across Salesforce users, engineers, QA, training, and documentation resources
  • Surface risks, ambiguity, and trade-offs early and transparently
  • Drive delivery discipline without compromising requirement clarity or solution quality

Senior-Level Expectations (Experience-Based)

  • Independently own ambiguous, cross-functional Salesforce initiatives
  • Challenge senior stakeholders constructively without escalation
  • Mentor less-experienced analysts through example and feedback
  • Identify systemic issues in Salesforce usage and recommend improvements

Required Qualifications

  • 3 - 6+ years experience as a Business Analyst or similar role
  • Demonstrated experience working directly with business users to define system requirements
  • Experience supporting software delivery teams in Agile environments
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with Jira, Confluence, or similar tools
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience working with Salesforce implementations or enhancements
  • Ability to translate business workflows into Salesforce-aligned requirements
  • Experience working in enterprise or services-based organizations

Performance Metrics

  • Requirement Quality: Minimal clarification requests and rework from Salesforce engineers
  • Delivery Effectiveness: Stable, sprint-ready requirements and predictable launches
  • User Impact: Salesforce users report improved workflows and reduced friction
  • Business Outcomes: Salesforce solutions meet intended objectives and adoption goals
