Job description

We're seeking team members who desire a career in manufacturing, enjoy setting up and operating equipment and will ensure great quality product goes to our customers. We're hiring and excited to meet you!

What You’ll Be Doing:

Operators utilize CNC laser cutting equipment to produce parts and components in accordance with customer specifications, ensuring precision, quality, and production efficiency. Employees progressively gain expertise in CNC laser operations, troubleshooting, and leadership, with increasing responsibilities and training requirements at each level.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Others as assigned


CNC Laser Operator Trainee

  • Assist in machine setup, tooling, and fixture alignment.
  • Learn basic M&G code and make minor adjustments.
  • Use measuring tools to ensure part quality to meet customer requirements.
  • Load raw materials and assist with cutting and packing.
  • Complete foundational training (JIT, 5-S, Lean, Kaizen, Six Sigma, SPC, Basic Math, Blueprint Reading, Basic Computer Skills).
  • Completes all requirements for CNC Laser Operator training program.


CNC Laser Operator Apprentice

  • Perform all Trainee-level duties.
  • Independently set up machine and tooling.
  • Understand M&G code and make minor adjustments to programs.
  • Accurately complete in-process inspections and document results report results in Global Shop/Manufacturing software.
  • Continue with apprentice-level CNC training modules.
  • Completes all requirements for CNC Laser Operator training program.


CNC Laser Operator Qualified

  • Perform all Apprentice-level duties.
  • Use full working knowledge of M&G code.
  • Troubleshoot setup and runtime issues.
  • Modify programs and select/change tooling.
  • Maintain CNC machines (e.g., change consumables).
  • Ensure product meets specs using precision measuring instruments.
  • Complete qualified-level CNC training.
  • Completes all requirements for CNC Operator training program.


CNC Laser Operator Certified

  • Perform all Qualified-level duties.
  • Independently execute new product tryouts.
  • Troubleshoot, identify, and recover from machine and programming errors.
  • Train and mentor other CNC operators.
  • Perform online programming for 2D and 3D parts.
  • Replace optics, perform advanced machine maintenance, and coordinate with equipment service teams.
  • Actively lead continuous improvement efforts.


Earning potential: Trainee range is $23/hr. with opportunity for pay-for-skill promotions and time-based pay adjustments. Apprentice at $24/hr.; Qualified $25.50/hr.; Certified $27.25 and Master $30.00/hr.



QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS

  • While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 50 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Consistent experience in manufacturing setting in set-up and machine operation or metal fabrication. This could include: Setting up/running CNC equipment, Performing part quality inspections, Blueprint reading, Experience with making adjustments to CNC programs
  • Strong work history including good longevity in previous roles

EXPERIENCE

  • Trainee: 0–3 months related experience or training
  • Apprentice: Completion of Trainee level requirements in CNC Laser Operator training program
  • Qualified: Completion of Apprentice level requirements in CNC Laser Operator training program.
  • Certified Completion of Qualified level requirements in CNC Laser Operator training program.
