Retail Operations Specialist

Job Overview

The Retail Operations Specialist is responsible for delivering exceptional customer service while supporting a wide range of retail banking operations. This role serves as a primary point of contact for customers, providing accurate information, processing transactions efficiently, and identifying opportunities to recommend bank products that meet customer needs and support branch growth.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and knowledgeable in banking operations, with a strong commitment to compliance and customer satisfaction.


Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver outstanding customer service by assisting with daily banking needs, including deposits, loan payments, check cashing, and withdrawals
  • Accurately process transactions while adhering to bank policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
  • Proactively identify customer needs and recommend appropriate banking products and services
  • Resolve customer inquiries and issues through effective problem-solving and follow-through
  • Open and maintain deposit accounts (checking, savings, money market, CDs), ensuring all required documentation and compliance verifications are completed
  • Maintain confidentiality of customer and bank information at all times
  • Perform dual-control and security procedures in accordance with bank policy
  • Balance and reconcile teller drawer daily; prepare and package cash and coin accurately
  • Process and verify incoming and outgoing wire transfers
  • Answer and route incoming calls in a professional and efficient manner
  • Collaborate with team members to support branch operations and achieve performance goals

Required:

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • Minimum 1 year of cash handling experience
  • Minimum 1 year of banking experience
  • Minimum 3 years of customer service experience
  • Strong numerical aptitude and attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Customer-first mindset with a proactive and solution-oriented approach
  • Ability to work onsite at Bison State Bank (9201 Ward Parkway, Kansas City, MO)

Preferred:

  • College degree or coursework in finance, business, or related field
  • Retail sales or cross-selling experience
  • Familiarity with banking or financial software systems
  • ACH and/or Treasury Management experience
