Job Summary:

This position will support the Retail division strategies, lead financial analysis (ROI, IRR, NPV, etc.), and own the budgeting / planning processes as well as forecast improvement initiatives. This role will be central to enabling the division to deliver on its current year objectives, long term strategic goals, and spearheading flywheel of analyzing data, articulating insights, and turning in value-creating actions. This role will heavily communicate with business partners, stakeholders and team members, create relevant material, and lead reviews and revisions of budgets and forecasts. Additionally, this role will lead special projects and analysis for the Retail division.

Job Description:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead the creation, analysis, and communication of all Retail division financial statement forecasts for both P&L and Balance Sheet (monthly, quarterly, Annual Operating Plan, 5-yr Plan and as otherwise required) including trend analysis, as well as leading the monthly written sales goal-setting process for the division including allocation to the store level.
  • Partner directly with the Retail Accounting, Commercial Finance, and S&OP teams, research variances between actual results and forecast to determine areas for forecast and/or business improvement.
  • Partners with executive management to ensure understanding of financial goals and KPIs, measures division performance against those goals and KPIs, and identifies, evaluates, and elevates risks and opportunities to management.
  • Brings to the table initiative and curiosity to analyze divisional data and KPIs to derive insights that enable value-creating recommendations to all levels of the organization and, upon approval, manage through execution. Continue to sharpen the business' ability to understand its strengths, weaknesses, threats, and opportunities.
  • Creates and owns all Retail division capital appropriation requests, including financial analyses (IRR/NPV) to support business case.
  • Responsible for post-audits of capital projects to assess actual results vs. original return on investment analyses.
  • Works closely with the Real Estate group to develop short- and long-term investment plans (including conversions, store relocations, new stores, and store closures) which ensure sustainable top and bottom-line growth of the Retail division.
  • Partners with stakeholders for financial analysis of investments, marketing plans, product pricing, compensation structure, etc. which may include ROI, NPV, elasticity analyses, diminishing returns, etc.
  • Collaborates with broader team on new strategies and business plans including but not limited to pricing strategy, eCommerce, Merchandising and promotion plans, store format evaluation, and store productivity.
  • Assists with creating analyses and support for monthly reporting and/or quarterly business review presentations with Executive Team.
  • Fosters an environment of continuous improvement. Actively develops and builds finance analytical capabilities for Retail Division
SCOPE & IMPACT:

This position supports the financial operations of the Retail division which currently has over 175 Retail locations and is actively growing with over $850 million in revenue. As part of La-Z-Boy's Century Vision Strategy, the Retail Division's growth and expansion is at the center, and this role will partner with Retail Leadership Team to achieve ambitious objectives. This position will own the forecasting/budgeting effort for the division, including preparation of Retail's Annual Operating Plan. This position will also be responsible for a multitude of division analyses to drive overall results. Role will regularly communicate with the Retail Leadership team in communicating risks and opportunities and recommendations for business improvement.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field with 8-10 years of relevant experience or equivalent
  • Advanced Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint
  • Possess strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Must have good collaboration skills and ability to work in multi-functional groups.
  • Well-developed oral and written communication skills.
  • Up to 10% Travel Required.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
  • MBA
  • FP&A experience in Retail, Consumer Products or Durable Products industries
  • Experience with an accounting ERP system and consolidation system, preferably JDE or Planful
  • Experience with a data analytics tool, preferably DOMO

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: 1-2 direct reports
