Job description

Job Summary
OneSource Virtual is seeking a TaxEx Product Owner team member who will assist the development team, through the iterative Agile approach, in delivering frequent high quality software releases. The development team creates proprietary applications designed in cutting edge Cloud Computing technologies using C# on .Net framework, WCF/REST, JSON, XML, and Object-Oriented Design. The ideal candidate will need to be a fast learner, work well with an experienced team, and balance technology with business operations. This position will be embedded in the development team and collaborate with Business Transformation and Operations teams to gather requirements, create stories and support the full software development process to deliver meaningful product updates.
Responsibilities
  • Work with an experienced software development team, supporting them in all aspects of the software development life cycle, designing and developing software for new features, enhancements, bug fixes, and upgrades to new technologies.
  • Comfortable with Agile Scrum or Kanban and can serve as a Scrum Master, running daily standup, refinement, planning, or retrospective ceremonies when needed.
  • Manage a product backlog, including prioritizing and refining user stories and providing clarity for the development team.
  • Conduct deep dives into business processes and functions related to Payroll Tax imports, schedules, impounds, remittances, and filing.
  • Leverage Payroll Tax knowledge to evaluate, consult, and provide effective analysis in support of the development and implementation of OneSource Virtual's proprietary software solutions.
  • Act as key liaison with business owners, stakeholders, and development team to gather, analyze, and translate business and technical requirements into scalable solutions.
  • Design solutions and support efforts related to QA, End User Testing and Training, Change Management, and Process Redesign for enhancements and new solutions.
  • Document solutions, using appropriate tools, to accurately and clearly communicate requirements, roles, and responsibilities to business and technical users.

Competencies
  • Possess exceptional communication skills, talking and sharing technical information and non-technical information, using appropriate mediums for technical and non-technical consumers.
  • Must understand Payroll Tax and be familiar with data, forms (paper), and electronic file specifications.
  • Have a deep understanding of Payroll Tax and Tax workflows to support analysis, requirements gathering, design, and development of our enterprise Payroll Tax application following an agile iterative approach.
  • A forward thinker who understands the business implications of technical solutions as well as the effect on customers.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications
Education/Certification Requirement
Required
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in a payroll tax or other highly regulated industry, performing analysis, requirements gathering, design and development duties in support of enterprise application systems.
  • 5+ years of experience with Payroll Tax filing and/or Payroll Tax filing software.
  • 3+ years of experience in process discovery and documentation including developing flow diagrams for business users and developers interfacing with web-based systems.
  • 3+ years of experience in defining business roles and documenting technical system specifications
  • Demonstrable verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred
  • Master's degree in accounting, finance, business or technology.
  • Prior experience with TaxEx software.
  • Prior experience working with cloud deployed web centric projects.
  • Prior experience with dynamic forms generation.
  • Prior experience in an Agile environment using industry leading tools such as Azure DevOps, Jira, or Rally.
