Job description

The Analytics Product Owner is responsible for defining the vision and roadmap for a robust portfolio of data, analytics, and AI products within the AI and BI Center of Enablement. This role leads the discovery of business needs and translates them into actionable product backlogs that empower our internal customers. They will directly support and drive the evolution of key enterprise products, including the Self-Service Toolkit, Tableau Cloud, the Enterprise Reporting Portal, Conversational Data Intelligence, and more.
By blending technical expertise in modern data management, enterprise platform governance, and data visualization with product management discipline, this individual ensures our data products meet the evolving needs of the business-from traditional BI to emerging Generative AI efforts. This individual is a senior contributor who provides strategic guidance and contributes to the development of other professionals.
Your Day to Day
  • Product Vision & Roadmap: Responsible for identifying and analyzing gaps between current data/AI capabilities and desired business outcomes, documenting requirements for complex, cross-functional projects across our C4E product portfolio.

  • Platform Ownership & Governance: Act as the strategic owner for enterprise visualization platforms, particularly Tableau Cloud. Go beyond report development to define and enforce platform governance, site architecture, security models, user enablement, and performance optimization at scale.

  • Solution Design & Prototyping: Perform analysis of data sources, metadata frameworks, and user requirements to design and propose effective solutions spanning our reporting portals, conversational data interfaces, and self-service BI tools.

  • Deep Technical Expertise: Maintain expert knowledge of our enablement products (Self-Service Toolkit, Enterprise Reporting Portal, Conversational Data Intelligence), while balancing a deep technical understanding of Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services, BigQuery, and Dataplex (Knowledge Catalog).

  • Architectural Alignment: Maintain a deep technical and architectural understanding of data products and metadata management, especially at points of interface with internal systems and IHG business processes.

  • Stakeholder Empowerment: Collaborate directly with business partners and stakeholders as a trusted advisor, empowering them to successfully implement their own BI initiatives and AI/ML experiments within our governed environments.

  • Strategic Narrative: Effectively translate complex data, BI, and AI concepts into a compelling business narrative for stakeholders, and conversely, translate business requirements into clear technical specifications for the engineering and enablement teams.

  • Validation & Quality: Create and validate data quality test scripts, BI platform performance metrics, visualization accuracy scenarios, and user acceptance testing (UAT) for our portfolio of C4E products.

  • Backlog Management: Create and prioritize Features and User Stories, conveying the vision and requirements for our reporting portals, conversational data interfaces, platform governance, and AI enablement products to the development team.

What We Need from You.
  • Product Ownership Excellence: Advanced knowledge of product ownership within a data, BI, or AI context, with a proficient understanding of modern data architecture, systems, and enablement frameworks.

  • Enterprise Platform Proficiency: Strong proficiency with Tableau, Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and BigQuery. Must possess experience in managing, governing, and scaling Tableau Cloud as an enterprise platform, including expertise in security administration, content lifecycle management, and platform architecture.

  • Data & Metadata Expertise: Expertise in SQL for complex data analysis and a strong understanding of data modeling, data warehousing, and metadata management/cataloging (specifically Dataplex/Knowledge Catalog).

  • AI & Emerging Tech: Familiarity with or a strong desire to support AI/ML initiatives, including Conversational Data Intelligence capabilities, Vertex AI, and Gemini Enterprise.

  • Complex Problem Solving: Ability to understand highly complex data and technical problems and build scalable, cross-functional solutions that promote self-service capabilities.

  • Storytelling & Communication: Exceptional storytelling and communication skills, with the ability to craft a clear narrative that translates technical information into business-friendly language and distills business needs into technical requirements.

  • Collaborative Leadership: Ability to collaborate with Technical SMEs (Data Engineers, Cloud Architects, Platform Admins) to deliver large, cross-functional projects and initiatives.

  • Agile Proficiency: Experience working in Agile or, ideally, Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) environments.

  • Proven Track Record: Experience working with cloud-based data platforms is required.

Education & Certifications
  • Bachelor's in a relevant field of work (e.g., Data Analytics, Computer Information Systems) or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience.

  • SAFe PO/PM certification preferred.

  • SAFe Agilist certification preferred.
