What we are looking for:
Pivotal Consulting is seeking an experienced Product Owner for a financial services company who will lead requirements definition, backlog management, and stakeholder alignment for a complex Statements & Vendor Notices initiative. This individual will partner closely with the Project Manager, business stakeholders, technology teams, and external vendor resources to ensure business needs are translated into clear, prioritized, and actionable delivery requirements.
The ideal candidate can quickly assume ownership of requirements, prioritization, user story development, and backlog governance while supporting testing and implementation readiness. This role requires strong Agile Product Owner expertise and experience within financial services, particularly customer or member communications, statements, notices, and related operational processes.
What you will do:
  • Lead business discovery and requirements-gathering activities with cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Define, prioritize, maintain, and govern the project backlog throughout the implementation lifecycle.
  • Translate business requirements into epics, features, user stories, and detailed acceptance criteria.
  • Facilitate backlog refinement sessions, stakeholder reviews, and requirement-validation discussions.
  • Partner with the Project Manager to manage scope, dependencies, risks, assumptions, and delivery milestones.
  • Serve as the primary business liaison between internal stakeholders, technology delivery teams, and vendor partners.
  • Ensure requirements and delivered solutions align with business objectives, operational needs, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Support user acceptance testing, including test-scenario development, defect triage, stakeholder coordination, and validation of completed functionality.
  • Support implementation planning, readiness activities, and post-implementation stabilization as needed.
  • Maintain clear documentation of decisions, requirements, priorities, and changes throughout the project lifecycle.

What makes you a good fit:
  • 5+ years of Product Owner experience, preferably supporting complex technology implementations in the financial services industry.
  • 8+ years of experience in software development, software delivery, business analysis, product management, or a related technology field.
  • Strong experience creating, prioritizing, and managing Agile backlogs.
  • Demonstrated expertise writing epics, features, user stories, acceptance criteria, and functional requirements.
  • Proven ability to partner effectively with Project Managers on complex, cross-functional implementation initiatives.
  • Experience supporting vendor conversions, platform migrations, enterprise technology implementations, or large-scale business transformation efforts.
  • Knowledge of statement delivery, customer or member notices, correspondence, document composition, or related operational communication processes.
  • Strong stakeholder-management, facilitation, communication, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to balance business priorities, technical constraints, regulatory needs, and implementation timelines.

Preferred qualifications:
  • Banking, credit union, or broader financial institution experience.
  • Experience with core banking platforms and third-party financial-services technology solutions.
  • Experience supporting core banking platform implementations, conversions, or integrations.
  • Prior involvement with statements, notices, document-composition solutions, or customer communication platforms.
  • Familiarity with regulatory communications, account statements, notices, disclosures, and customer or member correspondence requirements.
  • Experience working with external software vendors and implementation partners.

Why our employees love working at Pivotal:
