JOB SUMMARY
The Educator- KDOH Clinical (RN) will be a hybrid location-based role. This role will split time in Portsmouth, OH as the facility educator for all units as well as the assist the Organization and Development department with new team member orientation and learning management systems. The Educator-KDOH Clinical (RN) assesses learning needs, develops, teaches and evaluates completion of education programs, mandatory validations and competencies of the bedside clinical staff. The Educator- KDOH Clinical (RN) supports the development of the bedside nurse, fostering knowledge to achieve high quality outcomes through the delivery of evidence-based nursing practice, as well as provides educational support. In collaboration with the Clinical Nurse Leader and the Quality Team Members, the Educator works to identify educational opportunities to improve overall quality of care. The Educator-KDOH Clinical (RN) is responsible for the creation, maintenance and tracking of the learning management system at King's Daughters. This position also facilitates New Team Member Orientation.
DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Coordinates the clinical orientation of new hires and assures competency validations are completed within the first 90 days. Serves as mentor to new Team Members; assessing adequacy of orientation and training to promote the success and retention of the Team Member.

Overall performance of below indicated essential job duties:
  • Guides new team member skill development and facilitates integration in the department.
  • Prepares short and long term training programs to address identified needs of the team. Develops and delivers training and development programs. Consults with leaders to coordinate such training to avoid duplication of services.
  • Holds team members accountable in care delivery and provides coaching when necessary. Provides feedback to Clinical Nurse Leader regarding performance for recognition and coaching opportunities.
  • Facilitates accurate and timely documentation practices, including proficient use of electronic health record functionality.
  • Collaborates with nursing leadership in development of core and annual competencies for clinical team members; designs and offers competency validation processes.
  • Assists in maintenance of standard of excellence necessary to meet or exceed the accreditation and certification requirements and all applicable state and federal requirements.
  • Must maintain competencies as a bedside nurse and function in that role as necessary.

EDUCATION/LICENSE/CERTIFICATION/OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Minimum requirement:
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) or Associate's degree in Nursing (ADN) with expressed interest in and actively seeking BSN. Must obtain within the first 2 years in this role.
• Maintains active RN license in the Commonwealth of Kentucky and state of Ohio.
• Two or more years of applicable practice in the field or equivalent experience.
• Achieves and maintains American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Achieves and maintains other certifications within 90 days of start as required by department(s) supported:
o Adult Patient Care Units- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
§ Neuroscience Care Center: NIH Stroke Scale certification
o Intensive Care Unit/CVICU- ACLS and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (CPI), NIH Stroke Scale certification.
o Emergency Department- ACLS and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (CPI) Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS; TNCC or BTLS (one time only), and Hazmat Operations Level.
o Women and Children's Health- ACLS, Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), PALS.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Powerpoint and familiarity with Access and Excel.
• Experience with learning management systems.
Preferred qualifications:
• Bachelors Degree or Master's Degree in Nursing or related field.
