Job description

Position Summary:

The Integration Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, modifying, and maintaining interfaces between information systems using industry-standard interface engines and HL7 protocols. This role ensures reliable, accurate data exchange across clinical and administrative systems to support safe, efficient operations and informed decision-making. Working in close collaboration with IT peers, clinical teams, vendors, and operational stakeholders, the Integration Engineer participates in testing and validation efforts, troubleshoots interface issues, and supports ongoing system optimization. This position operates within a collaborative, team-oriented environment supported by engaged leadership and requires strong analytical ability, technical expertise, and clear communication to ensure seamless system integration and optimal performance across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, implement, and maintain HL7 and other healthcare related system interfaces, ensuring accurate and secure data flow between applications.
  • Perform ongoing analysis, testing, and validation of interface functionality, including participation in test planning, execution, and documentation.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve interface related issues, collaborating with application teams, vendors, and end users to ensure timely solutions.
  • Monitor interface engine performance, perform maintenance, and optimize configurations to support stable, efficient data exchange.
  • Develop and maintain reports, data extracts, and documentation that support clinical, operational, and administrative needs.
  • Collaborate with IT leadership, system owners, and stakeholders to gather requirements, support integration initiatives, and ensure system compatibility and regulatory compliance.

Licenses and Certifications Required:

  • Prefer certification in an industry established Interface Engine.

Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree, experience may be substituted for a degree.

Experience Requirements:

  • Prefer previous experience supporting or developing HL7 interfaces in a healthcare setting.

Special Skills or Training Requirements:

  • Must have excellent analytical skills and be able to communicate well with all levels within the organization.

Physical Requirements:

Work is primarily sedentary and computer based, requiring prolonged periods of sitting, typing, and screen use. Occasional standing, walking, lifting, or carrying up to 20 pounds of equipment or documentation may be required. Must be able to focus for extended periods and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Environmental Requirements:
