Establishing reliable communication schedules and being responsive to clients’ changing needs helps create a consistent, reassuring presence even from a distance.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Remote Doula position, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Doula, you need a thorough understanding of childbirth education, perinatal support practices, and experience in virtual coaching, often backed by a doula certification (such as DONA International or CAPPA). Familiarity with secure video conferencing platforms, digital resource sharing tools, and online scheduling systems is important for seamless virtual care. Exceptional listening skills, empathy, and the ability to provide emotional reassurance set standout remote doulas apart. These skills and qualities are vital for building trust, effectively supporting clients remotely, and navigating the unique challenges of virtual perinatal care.
