Job description

Senior Escort Service Worker

Provides escort services to clients who need escort services to perform activities such as going to the bank, grocery shopping, medical or dental appointments, senior centers, etc.

Essential Functions:

  • Provides escort services to seniors and adults with disabilities to perform activities such as bank, grocery shopping, medical or dental appointments, senior centers, etc. Meets seniors and travels with them to activities.
  • Confirms referral information with the supervisor in regard to the client's information, meeting date, time, and location.
  • Based on referral locations and demand, plans out the route accordingly. Escort services can be on a one-to-one basis or with multiple seniors if possible.
  • Performs as a guard when there is an emergency to protect seniors and follows emergency procedures such as calling 911.
  • Responsible for reporting if there is potential Asian hate crime or discrimination.
  • Attends all required training.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Attend required training once hired.
  • Must have an interest in working with older adults and disabled adults.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Bilingual in English and Chinese/Spanish/other languages preferred.
  • Be able to follow emergency procedures and call 911 when needed, report to related departments.
  • Familiar with the community of San Francisco.
  • First aid and CPR certificates are preferred.
  • Must be able to travel via public transportation or personal vehicle for the performance of job duties. If driving, must have and maintain a valid CA driver license, satisfactory driving record, and auto insurance coverage as specified in Self-Help's policy.
