Job description

Job description: Part-time Switchboard Operator
Hours/Week: 20
Location: Remote
Switchboard hours:  Monday - Friday: 7:45 am - 4:30 pm
 
Primary Role: Provide telephone operator service and directory assistance for Lipscomb University and Academy.
 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Answering and transferring calls, ensuring polite and timely communication.
  • Being knowledgeable about all departments to answer basic questions.
  • Providing telephone numbers and locations of faculty and staff offices.
  • Assisting users with dialing instructions for long-distance calling or other added telephone services.
  • Providing information to callers on special events (e.g., Athletic events, graduations, camps, conferences, and other large Lipscomb or community events occurring on campus).
  • Providing on-campus directions to callers as appropriate.

Works mostly independently from a remote location, but will occasionally work with co-workers to ensure switchboard coverage and communicate upcoming events and changes. Essential skills include excellent communication and customer service abilities, organizational skills, and familiarity with business telephone systems.

Requires access to stable high-speed internet connectivity in a remote-work location.
