Regtech information

Is RegTech a good career?

RegTech professionals develop and implement technology solutions to help organizations comply with regulations, often requiring skills in compliance, data analysis, and software tools. The field is growing due to increasing regulatory complexity and digital transformation, offering opportunities in finance, banking, and risk management sectors.

What jobs pay $500,000 a year in the US?

In the field of regulatory technology (Regtech), high-paying roles such as Chief Compliance Officer, Chief Risk Officer, or senior software engineers with extensive experience and specialized skills can reach or exceed $500,000 annually. These positions often require advanced certifications, leadership responsibilities, and expertise in compliance, cybersecurity, or financial regulations.

What jobs pay $10,000 a month without a degree?

In the regtech industry, roles such as compliance analysts, software developers, and cybersecurity specialists can reach or exceed $10,000 per month with relevant skills and experience, often without requiring a traditional degree. These positions typically emphasize technical expertise, certifications, and practical knowledge of regulatory technology tools and programming languages. High earning potential is more common in senior or specialized roles within the field.

Which 3 jobs will survive AI?

Regtech professionals, compliance officers, and auditors are likely to continue playing essential roles as AI automates routine tasks. These jobs require critical thinking, judgment, and understanding of complex regulations, making them less susceptible to full automation. Skills in data analysis, regulatory knowledge, and ethical decision-making will remain valuable in the evolving regulatory technology landscape.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Regtech position, and why are they important?

To thrive in a Regtech role, you need strong knowledge of regulatory frameworks, compliance management, and financial technology, typically supported by experience or education in finance, law, or IT. Familiarity with regulatory reporting software, data analytics tools, and certifications like CAMS (Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist) are commonly required. Analytical thinking, attention to detail, and effective communication are essential soft skills for ensuring accuracy and working with cross-functional teams. These competencies are crucial for helping organizations navigate complex regulations efficiently while maintaining compliance and minimizing risk.

What are some common challenges Regtech professionals face in their day-to-day work?

Regtech professionals often navigate complex and constantly evolving regulatory environments, which requires staying current with new laws and industry standards. They must also address the challenges of integrating advanced technologies, such as AI and automation, into existing compliance workflows without disrupting business operations. Tight deadlines and the need to ensure data security and accuracy can add additional pressure. This dynamic environment offers significant opportunities for learning and professional growth, especially for those who enjoy problem-solving and continuous innovation.

What is a Regtech job?

A Regtech job involves leveraging technology to help financial institutions and businesses comply with regulatory requirements more efficiently. Professionals in this field develop, implement, or manage software solutions that automate compliance tasks, monitor transactions for regulatory risks, and ensure adherence to evolving laws. Roles in Regtech can vary, including positions in compliance, data analysis, software development, and risk management. These jobs are increasingly in demand as regulations become more complex and firms seek cost-effective compliance solutions.

Job description

About The Role:

The RegTech team at DriveWealth develops data products essential for our compliance department to meet all regulatory obligations. We are seeking a Senior Data Analyst to focus on the creation, maintenance, and monitoring of highly curated data marts, feeds, and dashboards for both internal compliance and external regulatory reporting.

The ideal candidate must possess a deep understanding of the trade lifecycle and have a proven track record of collaboration with data engineers, product managers, and regulatory stakeholders. The role entails ownership of data quality, including defining quality standards, developing and implementing comprehensive testing strategies, and establishing robust data governance frameworks to ensure accuracy, integrity, and compliance across all regulatory data assets.

What You'll Do:

  • Support Ad-Hoc Inquiries and Regulatory Exams: Respond quickly and accurately to ad-hoc data requests and regulatory examination inquiries from Compliance and Legal teams, providing data and analysis as needed.
  • Own the Regulatory and Supervisory Data Layer: Architect, build, and maintain data marts and Sigma reports used for critical regulatory functions (e.g., CAT, EBS, trade monitoring, AML) and internal compliance supervisory monitoring, ensuring consistent, accurate outputs delivered quickly through efficient code with robust testing and verification.
  • Drive Optimization and Efficiency: Continuously evaluate and optimize data models, SQL queries, and Sigma reports for performance, cost-efficiency, and scalability, contributing to a best-in-class RegTech data infrastructure
  • Proactively Detect and Report Upstream Data Anomalies: Establish monitoring and alerting to proactively detect, analyze, and escalate upstream data anomalies and pipeline failures, providing daily exception reports to upstream data producers. ย
  • Own the Business Logic Layer: Define, implement, and rigorously document the core business logic and transformations within the data marts to ensure accurate calculation and aggregation for all regulatory and supervisory metrics.
  • Monitor Inbound Regulatory Files and Feeds: Establish and maintain robust monitoring for all critical inbound regulatory data files and real-time feeds, ensuring timely arrival, data quality, and correct ingestion into the data ecosystem.
  • Translate Regulation to Data: Work directly with business partners and Compliance to translate new regulatory rules, changes, and reporting obligations into precise analytics engineering requirements and data flows.
  • Lead Comprehensive Data Testing: Team with QA to architect and implement a rigorous, automated testing framework, including building and maintaining dbt data tests to validate transformation logic and data integrity, developing unit tests for all critical business logic, and establishing automated regression testing to ensure zero defect releases for all regulatory data products.

What You'll Need

  • Deep domain knowledge in FinTech/Capital Markets, including a strong understanding of the trade/order lifecycle (Orders, Executions, Allocations) and US regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Proven deep experience implementing, maintaining, and monitoring data for core regulatory processes (e.g., CAT, EBS, trade monitoring, AML).
  • Experience working within a larger data team, balancing ideating on solutions, creating output, writing verification tests, and reviewing others' work.
  • Fluent in SQL.
  • Experience with building business intelligence reports (Sigma Computing is preferred)

Bonus points for

  • Python (Jupyter Notebooks)
  • DBT
  • NoSQL and semi-structured data
  • Familiarity with Databricks, AWS, Airflow, GitHub, and ย Agile development
  • Experience documenting and maintaining procedures for regulatory purposes.
