Job description

Marketing Manager, Global Campus

Location: Miami, Orlando, or Tampa, Florida (remote)

Excelon Associates, Inc. has been retained by the University of East London (UEL) to conduct this search.

About the University of East London

Founded in 1898 to meet the skills needs of the second industrial revolution, UEL is now in Year 5 of its ten-year Vision 2028 strategic plan, led by Vice-Chancellor and President, Professor Amanda Broderick. The university's goal is to advance industry 5.0 careers-first education, provide a clear path to the jobs of the future, and drive diversity in the talent pipeline while building a sustainable, inclusive, and green future.

About the UEL Global Campus

A central feature of the careers-first approach established in Vision 2028, the Global Campus leads UEL's international education and partnership initiatives, including study abroad, the Turing Scheme, global career development, and collaborative research. As UEL expands its global footprint, the Global Campus connects students, faculty, and academic programs with institutions and partners worldwide.

The Opportunity

This is a build role, not a maintenance role. UEL's US presence is early-stage, and the Marketing Manager will operate with the autonomy and pace of a startup inside a 125-year-old institution. You will design regional marketing from the ground up, wear multiple hats, and carry a heavy workload with real ownership of the results.

Much of the work is self-directed. You will often be the marketing function on the ground, collaborating with UK-based teams across time zones rather than sitting alongside a large local department. Proven experience working remotely and independently, managing your own priorities, and delivering without day-to-day oversight is essential.

The Marketing Manager is responsible for designing, delivering, and evaluating regional marketing plans that support student recruitment, brand visibility, local engagement, and hub activities. The role oversees regional marketing staff as the team grows, coordinates with UK teams, and ensures all campaigns and content reflect UEL's brand and growth ambitions.

The post holder will play a key role in:
  • Increasing UEL's profile in the region
  • Supporting recruitment and conversion
  • Developing compelling regional content and campaigns
  • Driving digital, social, and community engagement
  • Ensuring consistent representation of UEL across all hub marketing activities
Main Duties and Responsibilities Strategic Planning and Reporting
  • Contribute to annual regional marketing plans aligned with UEL's global strategy and local market needs
  • Develop reporting structures to track marketing activity, campaign performance, and KPIs, feeding insights back to the Global Campus Director and UK External Relations
  • Produce regular updates on regional market trends, competitor intelligence, and opportunities for increased visibility and engagement
Campaign Development and Delivery
  • Lead regional implementation of integrated marketing campaigns across digital, social, events, partnerships, and PR
  • Ensure campaigns align with brand guidelines while remaining tailored for cultural and regional relevance
  • Coordinate with central marketing teams to adapt messaging frameworks for hub-specific audiences
  • Deliver campaigns supporting expression of interest, application, and conversion stages
Digital, Social, and Content Marketing
  • Manage hub-specific digital channels (webpages, social media, email marketing) in line with UEL's brand and regional objectives
  • Oversee the creation of compelling content including stories, videos, testimonials, student and alumni features, employer partnerships, and hub activities
  • Ensure regional webpages are accurate, current, easy to navigate, and optimized for user experience
Student Recruitment and Conversion Support
  • Support recruitment through targeted content, communications, and conversion campaigns tailored to regional audiences
  • Produce region-specific marketing collateral for prospective students, influencers, partners, and applicants
  • Collaborate with UK Admissions and Recruitment to align messaging and timelines with central processes
Relationship Management
  • Build strong, collaborative relationships with UK External Relations teams
  • Maintain close working relationships with Global Campus Directors, academic representatives, and local partners
  • Represent marketing at hub leadership meetings and regional strategic discussions
Events and Brand Activation
  • Plan and support regional events including open days, information sessions, fairs, corporate visits, alumni gatherings, and partner engagements
  • Ensure all events adhere to UEL brand standards and deliver an excellent visitor experience
  • Oversee regional PR and media opportunities where relevant
Team Leadership and Line Management
  • Manage and develop Marketing Executives and Coordinators based in the hub as the team grows
  • Set clear objectives, monitor performance, and identify training needs
  • Foster a collaborative, high-performing marketing culture
  • Deputize for the Head of Marketing (UK) where appropriate in global contexts
Compliance and Other Duties
  • Ensure marketing activities comply with UEL policies, brand guidelines, and relevant legislation, including data protection
  • Support other hub-wide initiatives aligned to growth, partnership development, and international strategy
Candidate Profile Education and Qualifications
  • A relevant bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience
  • Desirable: a higher degree, professional marketing qualification, or membership of a recognized marketing body (e.g., CIM, IDM)
Knowledge and Experience
  • Demonstrated success working remotely and independently, ideally in a startup, early-stage, or lean-team environment where you built rather than inherited
  • Experience delivering marketing at strategic, tactical, and hands-on operational levels
  • Experience using data, insight, and market research to inform marketing plans
  • Experience managing marketing teams to deliver measurable outcomes
  • Experience developing marketing for diverse or international audiences
  • A track record of resolving problems using creativity, initiative, and sound judgment
Communication
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong influencing and stakeholder management abilities
  • Ability to communicate with credibility, tact, and diplomacy across cultures and time zones
Planning, Initiative, and Drive
  • Proven ability to plan, prioritize, and manage multiple projects simultaneously without close supervision
  • Comfort with ambiguity, shifting priorities, and a high volume of work
  • High attention to detail, results-driven, and self-motivated
  • Commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusive practice
  • Desirable: knowledge of student recruitment, international education, or global marketing; experience navigating cultural differences in marketing and communications
Further Information

UEL is an inclusive equal opportunities employer, proud of its equality, diversity, and inclusivity achievements. UEL is a disability confident employer and values all applications. Please let us know if you require any reasonable accommodations during the recruitment process.
