Job Summary:

The Retail Marketing team is responsible for driving growth across a diverse portfolio of businesses, including Epic Mountain Gear, Hoigaards, Resort Retail, Outlet locations, and Epic Shop. The team leads how guests discover, engage with, and ultimately purchase retail products across both digital and physical environments.

The Marketing Manager, Retail supports the development and leads the execution of inbound marketing initiatives that drive discovery, engagement, and conversion across Vail Resorts’ retail business. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Retail Marketing, this role focuses on bringing inbound strategies to life through website optimization, SEO/GEO, content strategy, and in-store messaging. The Manager will play a key role in translating broader marketing strategies into effective, conversion-oriented experiences across digital and physical touchpoints.

This role requires strong cross-functional partnership with teams including the Outbound Retail Marketing Manager, Omnichannel Marketing, Digital Experience, Creative, Channel Analytics, Merchandising, Retail Analytics, and Retail Operations to bring our long-term vision to life. Additional cross-functional partners include the Resort Marketing, Epic Pass, and Ancillary Marketing teams.

The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented and collaborative marketer who can balance strategic thinking with strong execution, and is motivated by improving how guests find and shop retail.

The ideal candidate is curious, creative, data driven, collaborative, and can independently lead initiatives while building trusted cross-functional relationships.

Job Specifications:

  • Starting Wage: $79,531.16 - $90,000.00 + Annual Bonus

Job Responsibilties:

  • Support the development of inbound marketing initiatives across retail brands, creating insights and contributing to strategies around search behavior, content opportunities, and customer intent. 
  • Lead execution of inbound initiatives including content strategy, landing page optimization, SEO/GEO, and the overall digital experience. 
  • Identify opportunities to capture demand across seasonal moments, promotional moments, product categories, and local/store-based searches
  • Manage and optimize retail website content, partnering with the Digital Experience team to implement updates that improve UX and onsite performance 
  • Lead the development of in-store signage and messaging for key programs, merchandising stories, and marketing campaigns to ensure the digital experience matches the in-store experience at retail locations 
  • Translate outbound campaign strategies into effective landing page experiences and content strategies, partnering closely with the outbound retail marketing manager to ensure a cohesive end-to-end guest journey 
  • Develop rhythms and strategies in partnership with merchandising, planning, and operations that align and optimize messaging to product assortment and availability as well as services availability and lead times 
  • Monitor inbound performance metrics and own reporting and analysis efforts to identify trends and opportunities 
  • Execute test and learn initiatives across inbound tactics 
  • Contribute to the asset management planning process, including content gap analysis, new image and video capture, asset creation and post-production work, and future asset strategy in partnership with outbound team. This role will also work closely with merchandising team to secure assets from product vendors. 
  • Support marketing initiatives for the rentals line of business as needed, with ability to identify collaboration between rental and retail marketing teams. 

Job Requirements:

Required:

  • Bachelor degree in Marketing or equivalent experience 
  • A minimum of 5 years of marketing strategy and go-to-market execution experience
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at a time and thrive in a fast-paced environment 
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to leverage channel and business data to inform strategies, decisions, and stories 
  • Strong business acumen with an ownership mentality and solution-oriented mindset 
  • Excellent cross-functional collaborator
  • Understanding of digital metrics, UX design, and digital best practices a plus 

Preferred:

  • Experience in ecommerce or retail environments 
  • Understanding of digital metrics, UX design, and digital best practice  
  • Experience in travel, lifestyle, or resort-adjacent brands 
  • Familiarity with ecommerce platforms, onsite merchandising, and digital analytics tools
  • Interaction with Shopify platforms and Shopify app store a plus
  • Hands on experience with GA4 and UTM taxonomies  

The expected Total Compensation for this role is $79,531.16 - $90,000.00 + Annual Bonus. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.

Vail Resorts offers a ‘Hybrid’ work environment where employees living within 50 miles of the Broomfield office work on-site Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and have flexibility to work off-site on Mondays and Fridays.  Employees living outside of a commutable distance can work remotely from British Columbia, Washington D.C., and the 16 U.S. states* in which we currently operate.
