Job description

Starting Wage: $19.00 hour
The Purchasing Specialist is responsible for performing a variety of complex clerical duties related to the processing of purchase requisitions and adequate supplies of departmental uniforms.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Accepts or creates and processes purchase requests from internal departments.
  • Makes independent purchasing decisions based on rate and availability to meet department requests.
  • Builds relationships and maintains open channels of communication with current and new vendors.
  • Verifies order quantity, pricing and delivery timeline.
  • Reconciles invoices with receiving paperwork and processes credits as necessary.
  • Maintains inventory and organizes uniform storage closets.
  • Coordinates custom tailoring for company uniforms and marketing items.
  • Measures new and current Team Members for accurate uniform sizing.
  • Daily receipt of goods in Sage.
  • Runs and verifies monthly reports as requested by Management.
  • Assembles receipts and balances companywide credit card statements.
  • Maintains departmental systems for ordering materials and supplies, and document filing system.
  • Assists on receiving dock, filling internal orders as necessary.
  • Other duties as directed by management.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, Team Members may be exposed to secondhand tobacco smoke, including regular exposure for those working on the casino floor. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and can occasionally reach a high level for short periods of time.
EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND ELIGIBILITY
  • Minimum age requirement for this position is 18 years old.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Must have 1-year combined experience in purchasing/shipping and receiving or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • General understanding of computer programs, with high proficiency in all Windows applications required.
  • Must have a valid Driver's License.
  • Must have organizational skills, the ability to multitask and work independently.
  • Must be a proactive, self-starter with a strong desire to learn.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English, verbally, in writing or by other acceptable means.
  • Comply with pre-employment, random and reasonable suspicion alcohol and drug testing.
  • Receive and maintain a valid gaming license from the CTCLUSI Tribal Gaming Commission.
  • Availability to work all shifts including weekends and holidays based on the needs of the department and for special casino events.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Must be able to sit, stand and/or walk for up to 8 hours.
  • Must be able to carry, reach, twist, bend and squat frequently.
  • Must regularly lift and /or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds with assistance as needed.
