Purchasing and Materials ManagerAmarr, a part of ASSA ABLOY (the global leader in opening solutions), is a leading manufacturer of residential and commercial garage doors. We are committed to delivering high-quality products and exceptional service to our customers.As we continue to grow, we are seeking a responsible and detail-oriented professional to join our team as a Purchasing and Materials Manager in our Lawrence, KS location.This role as a strategic and operational leader for Amarr Supply Chain, is tasked with the supervision and direction of purchasing and material planning.**ESSENTIAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:*** Ensure uninterrupted supply through effective planning and execution of operational purchasing/planning activities.* Assist the sourcing organization in the overall performance of the supply line* Escalate supplier performance issues in a timely manner* Support strategic sourcing efforts and projects as assigned.* Monitor and manage KPIs* Other duties as assigned.**THE MOST IMPORTANT ACTIVITIES PERFORMED:*** Trains and evaluates the performance of direct reports. Ability to coach and develop different levels of buyer planners. Recommends team staffing needs.* Works cross functionally to achieve success in identified accountabilities.* Establishes and maintains proper purchasing practices. Monitors adherence.* Negotiates price and delivery on purchased items (delegated ownership coordinated with sourcing team).* Ensures accurate records are maintained (payment terms, standards, etc., supplier information, MRB, Rejections, etc.).* Ensure discrepancies are resolved in a timely manner (3-way match, receiving, etc.).* Oversee the development and implementation of processes and systems to improve purchasing/planning efficiency.* Act as a subject matter expert for planning/buying function.* Coordinate performance reviews with suppliers and ensures supplier scorecards are maintained and communicated in a timely manner.* Works to resolve supply issues escalated by Buyer/Planners, collaboratively.* Escalate issues to the appropriate channels in a timely manner.* Maintain and publish KPI’s.* Collaborate cross-functionally for continuous improvement of material flow, utilization analysis and supply chain optimization (lean methodology, economic order methodologies, etc.).* Implement methodologies (PFEP, Kanban, and Pull Systems) to ensure cost-effective material flow and inventory control.**PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:*** Must be able to sit for extended periods of time.* Prolonged use of keyboard and computer.* Must be able to lift and carry up to 25lbs. periodically.* Frequent use of fine motor skills for writing, and computer work.**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED (EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS):*** 4-year college degree in Business, Supply Chain, or Engineering.* Minimum 5 recent years of manufacturing purchasing experience on a progressive career path.* Minimum 2-3 recent years managing a team of professionals (may be substituted with exceptional experience managing cross functional procurement teams and projects as well as demonstrated people and leadership skills).* Experience in commodities buying; experience buying coiled steel preferred.* Experience developing sourcing strategies in a cross functional, cross company environment.* Proven experience driving internal and external continuous improvement activities within the supply chain function.* Experience working in a structured ERP environment (Oracle, SAP, etc.).* Exceptional leadership and communication skills.* Intermediate to advanced level Excel skills.* Commitment to obtain professional certification within the first 3 years if not already certified at the time of hire.* Analytical mind with excellent problem-solving abilities.* Strong background in supply chain (international) and inventory management systems.* Inventory classification experience, such as ABC analysis.* Proficiency with the scheduling process, and master scheduling.* Proficient in supply chain and inventory management systems.**ADDITIONAL DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS*** Professional Certification as a: CPSM, Certified Professional in Supply Management, CPIM, Certified in Production and Inventory Management or related certifications.* Six sigma and/or lean training.* Oracle Enterprise One system experience.Benefits include Medical/Dental/Vision, Paid Time Off, Paid Holidays from day one, tuition reimbursement, and a 401k plan (with an automatic 3% company contribution, regardless of your contribution after your first year of employment) among others.#amarrcareers**The Mission:**We are part of a global company, ASSA ABLOY, with a diverse range of opportunities, both locally and abroad.
