JOB SUMMARY:
Under administrative guidelines, this position provides strategic support to the School of Public Service Education and works in close collaboration with the Executive Dean. Core responsibilities include promoting academic quality, driving student success, and ensuring program excellence. The role encompasses curriculum review, faculty coordination, academic record management, budget oversight, and resolution of student concerns.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Academic Leadership and Program Oversight
  • Supervise all instructional activities to ensure academic integrity and student learning outcomes.
  • Manage program compliance with internal policies, State regulations, and accrediting bodies.
  • Oversee curriculum maintenance and submissions to the Curriculum Committee.
  • Assist faculty in developing, assessing, and evaluating program and student learning outcomes.

Faculty and Staff Management
  • Hire, supervise, and evaluate full-time and part-time faculty and staff.
  • Provide constructive feedback and professional development support.
  • Coordinate faculty assignments and address instructional absences as needed.

Scheduling and Enrollment Management
  • Develop divisional course schedules and make faculty assignments in coordination with administrative leadership.
  • Manage enrollment, retention, completion, and transfer/job placement outcomes.
  • Use data analytics to promote student retention and completion.

Budgeting and Resource Management
  • Manage the unit budget and provide input into budget planning.
  • Oversee procurement and maintenance of facilities and instructional equipment.
  • Prepare budget-related reports and ensure fiscal compliance.

Student Support and Issue Resolution
  • Address student concerns promptly and effectively.
  • Promote student success through participation in college- and community-events and initiatives.

Reporting and Compliance
  • Assist in submission of college, State, and accreditation reports.
  • Support grant development and oversight.
  • Ensure timely updates to the College catalog and related documents

Other Duties
  • Completes all other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
The qualifications, knowledge, and skill requirements for this position include:
  • Master's degree from an accredited institution in Criminal Justice, Fire Science, Legal Studies, Juris Doctorate, or Emergency Medical Services (EMS).
  • Must demonstrate an understanding of contemporary pedagogy by serving as faculty or administrator at the college-level.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to use data in decision making.
  • Professional licensure and experience in Criminal Justice, Fire Science, Legal Studies, or Emergency Medical Services (EMS), preferred.
  • Ability to work collaboratively.
  • Ability to work with full and part-time faculty from diverse backgrounds and with various experience levels.
  • Ability to function effectively with multiple priorities.
  • Ability to be well organized and demonstrate effective time management, flexibility, and creativity.
  • Ability to be an effective decision maker and creative problem solver.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
This position requires an ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, lift, reach up, stoop, and carry items occasionally more than twenty-five (25) pounds. It also requires manual dexterity to operate standard office machines, such as, copier, calculator, telephone, and other equipment as necessary. Indian River State College expects its employees to follow proper safety standards while employed by the College.
