Job description

Low Voltage Project Manager / Estimating Engineer

Location: Atlanta, GA — travel to multifamily job sites across the metro and broader region as needed
Company: Advanced Prop Tech
Employment Type: Full-Time
Compensation: Competitive, commensurate with experience — six figures for the right candidate. Comprehensive benefits package included.

About Us

Advanced Prop Tech is a low-voltage systems contractor specializing exclusively in multifamily communities across the Southeast. We design, install, and service access control, CCTV, A/V, wireless, structured cabling, and Emergency Responder Radio Communication Systems (ERRCS) for apartment and multifamily properties. As demand grows in the Atlanta market, we're looking for an experienced professional to help us manage projects from bid to completion.

The Role

We're seeking a hybrid Project Manager / Estimating Engineer who can own low-voltage projects end-to-end — from reading plans and building accurate estimates, to overseeing construction in the field, to closing out jobs on time and on budget. This role requires strong construction oversight — someone comfortable being the boots-on-the-ground authority on job sites, not just a desk-based estimator or a remote PM. This is a great fit for someone who understands both the technical and commercial sides of low-voltage work and wants ownership over projects rather than just one slice of the process.

What You'll Do

Estimating

  • Read and take off construction drawings (electrical, architectural, low voltage) for multifamily new-construction and renovation projects
  • Prepare accurate, competitive estimates for access control, CCTV, structured cabling, A/V, wireless, and ERRCS systems
  • Build BOMs, labor estimates, and pricing packages; work with vendors/distributors on product pricing and lead times
  • Support bid strategy and proposal development, including scope clarifications and value engineering

Project Management & Construction Oversight

  • Manage awarded projects from kickoff through closeout, including scheduling, procurement, subcontractor/vendor coordination, and manpower planning
  • Conduct regular on-site walks to oversee installation quality, safety, and progress against schedule
  • Serve as primary point of contact for GCs, developers, property management companies, and ownership groups at the job site and in project meetings
  • Track project budgets, change orders, and margins; proactively flag risks and schedule delays
  • Coordinate directly with field technicians and installation crews to ensure quality, code compliance, and adherence to project specs
  • Ensure projects meet local AHJ and fire marshal requirements, particularly for ERRCS systems
  • Attend GC/OAC (owner-architect-contractor) meetings as the low voltage representative
  • Maintain project documentation: submittals, RFIs, as-builts, punch lists, and closeout packages
  • Curious about how to embrace AI for efficiencies

What We're Looking For

  • 3+ years of experience in low voltage estimating, project management, or both (multifamily experience strongly preferred)
  • Demonstrated construction site oversight experience — comfortable managing crews and subs in an active construction environment, not just reviewing reports
  • Working knowledge of access control, CCTV/IP video, structured cabling, and wireless systems; ERRCS experience a big plus
  • Hands-on experience with any of the following a plus: Brivo, Butterfly, Schlage, Avigilon, Digital Watchdog, DoorKing
  • Comfortable reading construction drawings and specs
  • Experience with estimating software and project management tools
  • Strong organizational skills — able to juggle multiple active projects, bids, and site visits simultaneously
  • Excellent communication skills; comfortable interfacing directly with GCs, developers, and property managers
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for job site visits across the Atlanta metro
  •

Why Advanced Prop Tech

  • Niche focus on multifamily means deep expertise and repeat business with the same developers/GCs
  • Growing company with room to take on more responsibility and ownership
  • Competitive, six-figure compensation with a comprehensive benefits package
