Job description

Gelber Group -- Passion for Trading. Powered by Technology.

Headquartered in Chicago with offices across the United States and Europe, Gelber has set the bar as one of the industry's innovative and enduring proprietary trading firms for more than 40 years.  Our collaborative and entrepreneurial culture empowers each member of our team to have a meaningful impact from the start.  We pride ourselves on a flat organizational structure and focus on meritocracy.  If you flourish in a fast-paced environment, have a strong work ethic, and a competitive attitude, Gelber is right for you.

As a prop Trading Intern at Gelber Group, covering basics of liquid capital markets, the various ways in which Gelber engages these markets, and the tools and technology that link us to the markets.  Once you have a grasp on these concepts you will be assigned directly to a Trading desk to work closely with those Traders and the Head of the Desk.

This internship will begin in June 2026 and last until August 2026.  We are considering recent graduates or candidates that are graduating with a master's or PhD degree between December 2026 and August 2027.

This will be a remote position with a preference for candidates in the Boston area/region.

Position Overview

We are seeking highly motivated individuals to participate in a summer program relevant to Gelber's trading strategies.  Our interests are best served by teaching you the necessary skills to demonstrate your talent and by giving you difficult and interesting problems to solve.

What You'll Do

  • Experience hands-on learning and have immediate exposure to senior leaders within the trading industry
  • Gain a thorough understanding of the financial markets through a comprehensive and intellectually stimulating program
  • Collaborate directly with an Automated Trading Desk, tackling real-world problems relevant to the current market environment and industry
  • Guided by experienced traders, you will navigate the research process and showcase your analytical expertise
  • Develop an understanding of the various trading strategies we trade within Gelber

Goals

  • Be able to construct a strong research process
  • Develop significant knowledge of quantitative research and the concepts that govern trading and markets
  • Determine if this is the career you want to pursue

Qualifications

  • Curiosity, self-motivation, strong communication skills, and an ability to collaborate with others
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to learn, understand, and apply new concepts
  • Making progress towards a master's or PhD (STEM field not a prerequisite)

Why Intern at Gelber?

  • Comprehensive 10-week program, running from June to August 2026
  • Comprehensive benefits package available for full-time employees
