Job description

Choate Construction Company, one of the largest general contractors in the Southeast, is seeking an experienced, results-driven Project Executive to drive business growth, lead high-profile construction projects, and develop high-performing teams. With offices in Atlanta, Charleston, Charlotte, Nashville, Raleigh, Savannah, and Tampa, Choate is known for excellence in both base and interior construction and values its reputation, client relationships, and employees above all else.

Role Overview:
The Project Executive will oversee project teams to ensure successful delivery, build and maintain strong relationships with clients, architects, and engineers, and pursue new business opportunities. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker, proven leader, and skilled manager who thrives on project performance, team mentorship, and ensuring client satisfaction. This role also represents Choate in the industry, promoting the company's brand through professional engagement and strategic initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Business Development & Client Relations: Pursue new opportunities, maintain and grow relationships, and represent Choate at networking events and industry organizations.
  • Project Oversight: Manage multiple projects to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery while maintaining quality standards. Mentor and lead Project Managers, Superintendents, and support staff.
  • Contracts & Risk Management: Review and approve contracts, subcontracts, and purchase orders; proactively identify and mitigate project risks.
  • Preconstruction & Planning: Collaborate on bid strategies, schedules, design-assist opportunities, and BIM/virtual tool usage.
  • Construction & Team Leadership: Establish project objectives, monitor progress, implement corrective actions, mentor teams, and ensure compliance with policies and safety standards.
  • Financial Oversight: Approve budgets, cost reports, pay applications, and change orders; monitor project profitability and equipment utilization.

Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications, and Experience:

  • 5-10 years as a Senior Project Manager; 15+ years in construction.
  • Proven ability to lead multiple project teams to successful outcomes.
  • Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Construction or related field.

Licensure / Certification:

  • Preferred: LEED AP certification.

Tools & Software Proficiency:

  • Viewpoint (project controls/accounting)
  • SureTrak or MS Project (scheduling)
  • Bluebeam (PDF creation/modification)
  • Timberline Estimating software
  • Preferred: BIM knowledge
