Student Internship - Mental Health Intern- Therapist
This internship is designed for students who want hands-on experience in a counseling and wellness setting. As an intern, you will learn by observing real-world counseling practices, assisting with program activities, and contributing to community outreach - all under the supervision of licensed professionals.
What You'll Do
Position Type: Internship (Unpaid or Stipend - depending on arrangement)
Reports To: Licensed Counselor or Program Coordinator
  • Welcome and assist clients at the front desk.
  • Help schedule and confirm appointments.
  • Provide administrative support to counselors.

  • Assist with workshops, support groups, and events.
  • Prepare educational materials and resources for sessions.
  • Maintain confidentiality and follow ethical guidelines.

Learning & Clinical Exposure
  • Observe counseling sessions (with consent and supervision).
  • Join staff meetings and case discussions.
  • Assist with research, data entry, and program evaluation.

  • Support mental health awareness campaigns.
  • Help share educational materials with schools and local organizations.

  • Current enrollment in (or recent graduation from) a program in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, Human Services, or a related field.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Professionalism, reliability, and commitment to confidentiality.
  • Ability to work well as part of a team.

  • Real-world exposure to counseling practices in a professional setting.
  • Skills in client interaction, program development, and advocacy.
  • Understanding of ethical standards in mental health services.
  • Mentorship and supervision from licensed professionals.

  • Flexible hours based on program needs and school requirements.
  • Minimum of 8-12 hours per week preferred.
  • Semester-based, summer, or year-round opportunities available.
