Rural Health Professional Development and Continuing Education
Job Description:
- To work with State agencies and/or organizations to develop and strengthen cross-system collaboration and implementation of the Rural Health Professional Development and Continuing Education system.
- To be responsible for project development; to perform research, program evaluation, fiscal and policy analysis on RI's Rural Health Professional Development and Continuing Education system/programs
- To initiate, plan, coordinate, supervise and review continuous information on the program
- To serve in a highly responsible communication capacity supporting a number of state departments in their contact with state, local, public and officials; and to do related work as required.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Works under the general direction of a department director
or a consortium with considerable latitude for the exercise of initiative and independent
judgement; assignments are subject to review for results obtained in adherence to
established policies and procedures.
Supplemental Core Responsibilities
- Program Planning & Development: Assess educational needs of target
audiences, design and implement continuing education and professional
development programs with a focus on rural communities in Rhode Island.
- Ensure alignment with professional standards, accreditation requirements, and
industry regulations
- Curriculum & Content: Collaborate with subject matter experts to create
relevant, engaging, and up-to-date curricula for in-person, hybrid, and online
formats
- Compliance & Standards: Ensure all programs meet state/federal, institutional,
or professional body requirements (e.g., CEU/CE credits, licensure renewal)
- Budget & Resource Management: Oversee program budget, track
expenditures, and manage resources such as materials, technology, and vendor
contracts
- Evaluation & Improvement: To perform research, fiscal and policy analysis on
various issues affecting consumers of professional development and continuing
education. Collect feedback, analyze program outcomes, and make data-driven
improvements to offerings
- Stakeholder Relations: Build and maintain relationships with rural health
constituents, professional organizations, and community partners.
- Work closely
with local specialized schools, colleges and industry in educational and training
programs.
Technology & Systems:
Ensure use of learning management systems, webinar platforms, and member management tools to support program delivery
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- A thorough knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques of projects
management related to developing interdepartmental programs and services.
- A thorough knowledge of planning, budgeting and evaluation process and the
ability to apply them in a human service system.
- A thorough knowledge of practices, procedures and protocols for press relations;
the ability to research and prepare reports and recommendations for
dissemination of policy information.
- A working knowledge of computers and communication technology.
- A thorough knowledge of, and the ability to, evaluate the attitudes and reactions
of interested and affected groups and their demands and needs for information
about the department's programs and objectives.
- The ability to communicate effectively with a variety of constituents, state officials
and the general public.
Education and Experience
- Education: Master's degree in public health, education, business, or a related
field
- Experience: 3-5 years' experience with considerable employment in a highly
responsible position involving responsibility for the research, fiscal analysis and
policy development and dissemination of information.
- Or, any combination of education and experience that shall be substantially
equivalent to the above education and experience.
