Pricing Analyst

The function of the Pricing Analyst position is to facilitate the delivery of value from the Corporate Strategic Pricing Model, improving year over year margins through accurate and consistent application of pricing policies and processes. Pricing is a key element of clients core strategy, as it is a critical component of long-term profitability. As a main lever to delivering margin, pricing policies require a strong focus across the organization.

The Analyst position maintains the strategic exception pricing vision for our brands and services, embedding pricing frameworks and processes in Epicor P21, as well as maintaining the tool sets needed to measure compliance to corporate pricing policies. The Pricing Analyst will monitor and implement corporate and regional pricing strategies in P21, as well as be a champion for continuous improvement of pricing policies.

The Analyst position will also be responsible for implementing the pricing structure from Epicor P21 into PriceFx for the pricing software upgrade. All definitions, in this listing, of maintaining pricing will switch from P21 to PriceFx as we shift to a new pricing software.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage, maintain, and implement strategic exception pricing in P21 and PriceFx systems. Including definition of pricing roles for customer service, and assisting in the creation of Dyna-change/business rules necessary for pricing compliance. This includes but is not limited to:
  • Manage supplier price increase notifications for impacted strategic pricing Development of new pricing methods related to exception price management.
  • Recommend price moves and strategic price positioning to optimize revenue and margin pool
  • Participate in the development of standards and processes regarding customer price contract negotiations. This includes direct recommendations through analysis and the process of confirmation and implementation with the sales team and customer.
  • Load and maintain customer exception contract pricing in P-21. Provide guidance to Sales Managers in the evaluation of existing and new customer contracts.
  • Maintain current and develop new processes that streamlines the management of strategic exception pricing
  • Development of robot process automation (RPA) to reduce low-end repetitive tasks.
  • Monitor integrity of P21 data fields needed for system pricing. Identify data discrepancies in customer and item databases, and ensure corrective action is taken.
  • Ensure compliance to system delivered pricing agreements. Scrutinize daily price edits, and resolve recurring errors in P-1.
  • Ensure system pricing activities are compliant with corporate pricing strategy, and communicate variances to corporate management
  • Own and manage Price Deck key performance indicators (KPI's) for maintained and non-maintained pricing.
  • Develop, implement, and transition client pricing structure from P21 into PriceFx software. This includes but is not limited to:
  • Assist in project development and lead in development and implementation of pricing transition from P21 pricing libraries and pages into PriceFx software utilizing SQL, MySQL, P21, PriceFx, and other softwares associated with data management and integration between the two systems.
  • Develop dashboards in PriceFx to show margin trends, gains, losses, and suggested price changes that will be analyzed and acted upon by the pricing team.
  • Ensure integrity of data for transfers between P21 and PriceFx.
  • Develop control processes within PriceFx to effectively manage the transition to the new software.
  • Develop SQL views for pricing analysis and data pulls for more effective reporting related to P21, Power BI, SQL, and PriceFx
  • Support acquisition team to implement pricing structure for new acquisitions into P-21 on a consistent and timely basis.
  • Assist in developing pricing strategies designed to promote moving existing customer business to e-business transactions (e-commerce, punch out, EDI)
  • Promote the sharing and transfer of best practices across the regions
  • Support a profitable ESOP based culture (100% Employee-Owned Company) through pricing practices and polices

Education, Experience and Skills Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Economics, Marketing, Business, Finance, or related field
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years' experience with Sales Pricing Strategies, Pricing Policies and Pricing Policy Development and Database management
  • Experience in PriceFx software is highly preferred by not required
  • Knowledge of basic Accounting and Financial principles
  • Exposure to IT system design, maintenance, process documentation and change management
  • Experience with database management, data extraction, SQL/MySQL, and Crystal reports
  • High-energy, proactive self-starter with drive, initiative, and superior analytical skills
  • Ability to design and implement solutions for processes that are not always evident
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills to work with other areas of the organization to improve corporate performance
  • Proven ability to professionally defend empirical, fact-based analyses over instinct based decisions
  • Must be multi-tasking, detail oriented, and a collaborative team player
  • Strong PC skills (heavy emphasis on PriceFx, Excel, SQL, Epicor P21, Crystal Reports)
  • The person who fills this role will need to develop the knowledge to thoroughly understand clients pricing practices and programs as well as the pricing functionality in P21 and PriceFx
  • From a corporate perspective, the Pricing Analyst must proactively interface and coordinate efforts with Operations, Finance/Accounting, Sales, IT, and Marketing as a liaison for the Pricing group.
  • The role also may require the Analyst to occasionally assist in presentations to senior leadership.
