Job description

A client of ours in the legal industry is looking to add a sophisticated pricing professional to their finance team. This role partners directly with the company's leadership to drive competitive fee strategy, monitor matter profitability, and translate complex financial concepts into actionable guidance for attorneys and clients. It's a high-visibility position for someone who is familiar with legal contracts and wants to influence pricing strategy at a firm-wide level.


Responsibilities:

  • Develop creative pricing solutions and competitive fee proposals for significant pursuit opportunities, applying market insight, historical matter data, and financial analysis to build defensible budgets
  • Conduct real-time profitability monitoring on high-dollar matters, identifying scope changes, budget variances, and margin risks before they become problems
  • Prepare regular and ad hoc reporting on rate usage, performance, realization, budget-to-actual variance, and upcoming rate adjustments
  • Educate attorneys on pricing models, law firm economics, and matter management while staying current on legal industry trends and emerging fee arrangement structures


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Business Analytics
  • 5โ€“7 years of progressive experience in legal pricing, legal project management, or law firm finance
  • Demonstrated experience building complex matter budgets, staffing models, and alternative fee arrangements; law firm experience required
  • Advanced Excel skills including financial modeling and pivot tables, with strong proficiency across Microsoft 365
