Job description

Position Title: Practice Manager
The Practice Manager plays a pivotal role in the operational leadership of the firm, collaborating closely with the ownership group to enhance financial operations and improve overall business efficiency. This position encompasses overseeing internal accounting, HR administration, and technology initiatives while ensuring a high level of client service. The Practice Manager is also responsible for staff development and streamlining firm operations. The role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous process improvement in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will thrive in a dynamic setting, supporting a dedicated team while managing multiple responsibilities efficiently.
Salary Range: $130,000 - $140,000 / Year DOE
Practice Manager Responsibilities:
  • Attend partner meetings and report to the partners group
  • Formalize finance, personnel, and general administration policy
  • Direct the firm's financials and manage all internal accounting functions
  • Prepare monthly financial statements
  • Handle payroll and payroll tax returns
  • Reconcile the firm's bank accounts monthly
  • Approve all accounts payable checks
  • Monitor accounts receivable and cash flow
  • Supervise management data and reporting
  • Address problems areas for solutions and promote process efficiency
  • Work with partners to establish forms, procedures, and guidelines
  • Direct orientation, training, and evaluation of accounting and administrative staff
  • Implement new forms and procedures as necessary
  • Research and recommend new technologies and software
  • Assist with maintenance of the firm's reference materials and software products
  • Oversee all firm insurance policies and recommend necessary changes
  • Coordinate and supervise all marketing efforts
  • Communicate with prospective clients and vet for acceptance

Requirements:
  • 5+ years of experience as a practice manager or operations director in a tax firm is required
  • Experience with accounting functions of a tax firm, including monthly statements, payroll, taxes, and AP/AR is required
  • Experience managing operations, workflow, and client service is required
  • Experience creating reports for leadership is required
  • Experience leading orientation and training of new hires is required
  • Strong operations, people management, and process improvement background is required
  • Must be forward-thinking and progressive in approach
  • Bachelor's degree is required
  • Finance or accounting degree is preferred
