Job description

Develop short-term Payroll Systems strategy to address issues and increase efficiencies. Design, configure, test, and manage Workday Payroll modules and software release changes. Facilitates project manages initiatives that improve operations and efficiencies. Collaborate, obtain input from stakeholders on enhancements, and facilitate change management. Manage the day-to-day activities, processes, priorities, and initiatives of the Systems team.
  • Develop business and functional requirements to achieve desired Payroll enhancements and continual improvements. Obtain Payroll Department input on enhancements and needs to alleviate recurring issues as well as improve operations, Develop and manage project plan including timeline, activities, responsible owner, milestones, communications, and change management through the software life cycle. Status management and stakeholders on ongoing progress, identifying issues, and possible risks.

  • Collaborate with IT on forthcoming software releases and plan accordingly for business requirements, configuration needs, and testing. Collaborate with IT to obtain programming resources and each department's responsibilities and deliverables.

  • Manages a wide range of quality control tests, SIT, UAT, regression, data files, and analysis to ensure software meets or exceeds specified standards. Reviews and provides feedback on test scripts and plan.

  • Manage the day-to-day configuration activities, and priorities of the team. Delegates responsibilities, communicates expectations, and sets deadlines. Responsible for maintaining current processes and procedures focusing on continual improvement and efficiencies.

  • Identifies and implements innovative solutions for practice or workflow changes to improve department operations or other department-specific measures by leading unit projects and/or other department/system directed activities. Supports change initiatives, maintaining effectiveness when experiencing major changes in work responsibilities or environment; adjusts effectively to work within new work structures, processes, requirements or cultures

  • Prepares annual operational and personnel budgets.

People Development

  • Develop a strong, trusting, and reliable team. Understand team members career aspirations and provide assignments to develop skills and/or close gaps. Constructively address issues and provide tangible and appropriate feedback. Apply a proactive and collaborative management style in order to increase employee engagement and minimize turnover. Monitor training and licensing requirements ensuring staff is re-trained/licensed prior to expiration.

  • Coordinate staff work and time-off schedules ensuring appropriate coverage.

  • Responsible for screening candidates (internal and external) and hiring or promoting a skilled and effective staff. Recommends pay increases, special pays, and career advancements.

Minimum Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems or equivalent required

  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) required

Experience

  • At least six (6) years Enterprise Software configuration experience with increasing responsibilities

  • At least 4 years Workday Payroll analytics experience including project managing testing and software releases

  • Experience leading teams or supervisory experience desired

  • Experience with SOX 404 internal control procedures for payroll

  • Strong excel (Pivot tables and V/H Lookups)
