Are you a payroll tax professional who thrives on solving complex tax challenges, ensuring compliance, and driving process improvements? We're seeking a Payroll Tax Accountant to join our growing team and play a vital role in supporting a multi-state, multi-entity organization. In this position, you'll work alongside payroll, finance, and compliance teams to ensure accurate reporting, tax filings, and audit readiness while helping shape scalable payroll tax processes for a dynamic and expanding business.

Role and Responsibilities

The Payroll Tax Accountant plays a critical role in ensuring the accurate reporting, filing, and compliance of payroll taxes in a multi-state, multi-entity, privately held high-growth company. This position is responsible for integrating entities into the HRIS and ensuring that the associated filings and reporting has been reviewed and accurately submitted to the applicable federal or state tax agencies. The role requires collaboration with internal payroll teams, external auditors, and tax authorities to resolve discrepancies and optimize tax strategies.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience in payroll tax accounting or payroll tax compliance.
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations and filing requirements.
  • Proficiency with payroll systems and tax filing software.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation.
