The Payroll and HR Coordinator is a detail-oriented problem solver who thrives in a deadline-driven environment and takes pride in getting things done right. This role plays a critical part in ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing while supporting a wide range of HR operations activities. Success in this role requires strong attention to detail, a positive can-do attitude, and a commitment to following through on tasks with accuracy and care.

Payroll Administration & Compliance

  • Develop strong working knowledge of payroll processing in Workday.
  • Conduct pre-payroll audits and validations in Workday to ensure accurate and timely bi-weekly payroll processing.
  • Administer payroll-related activities within ADP, including:
    • Wage withholding and garnishment orders
    • State unemployment claims and administration
    • Payroll system maintenance and data updates
  • Review payroll data for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with payroll procedures and applicable regulations.
  • Maintain, update, and continuously improve payroll records, documentation, and process workflows to support accuracy, consistency, and operational efficiency.
  • Leverage payroll and workforce data to identify trends, audit information, and provide insights that support informed decision-making and process improvements.

Employee Support & Communications

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for employee payroll-related questions and concerns.
  • Support employee communications related to payroll processes, deadlines, policy updates, and HR operational initiatives.
  • Contribute to process documentation and standard operating procedures.

HR Operations Support

  • Serve as a backup resource for key HR operational functions, including onboarding, pre-employment activities, employee communications, and other administrative processes as needed.
  • Coordinate and process employee terminations, ensuring timely completion of final pay, system updates, and required documentation.
  • Coordinate quarterly random drug screening processes, including employee notifications, tracking, and documentation.
  • Support audits, reporting requests, and special projects related to payroll and HR operations.

Education:

  • College degree or commensurate experience.

Experience:

  • 1-2 years HR experience preferred but not required.

  • Strong preference for previous payroll exposure/experience.


Skills / Knowledge / Abilities:

  • Highly adaptable, detail-oriented, and able to work autonomously.

  • Ability to work effectively under critical time pressures and maintain an appropriate sense of urgency.
