A Brief Summary of This Position:
This individual contributor position is responsible for the payroll data entry, processing and reconciling of bi-weekly and weekly payroll. Duties include meeting deadlines with minimal errors, basic knowledge of various federal, state and local tax withholding regulations and wage garnishments. The incumbent answers basic employee/supervisor questions regarding company payroll related policies and procedures. Interfaces with employees and outside organizations to present a favorable service impression of the Payroll department. Excellent oral and written communication skills are required to maintain and enhance the department's focus as a service department.
Essential Functions:
  • Perform weekly payroll processing for assigned business units/locations
  • Correct and analyze first and final payroll reports
  • Edits, codes and enters all payroll data for assigned locations
  • Provide timekeeping guidance to site managers/human resource representatives
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 15 pounds, although most frequent lift is under 10 pounds
  • This position reports to the Senior Manager Payroll and has no direct or indirect reports

Other Important Details about the Role:
  • Running payroll related reports
  • Distribution of payroll related reports to site contacts
  • Act as the initial payroll contact for assigned sites/locations
  • Act as backup to other department members

Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):
  • High School Diploma/GED and 4+ years of work/educational experience or Associates Degree
  • Experience with use of proper discretion in handling of highly confidential information
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong data entry skills with high accuracy rates
  • Basic knowledge of Federal Wage and Hour Law
  • Understanding of federal and state tax regulations as related to employee pay checks

Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications:
  • Previous experience using an integrated HR/Payroll processing package, such as ADP/Vantage and Workday
  • Multi-state and local tax payroll processing experience
  • Strong working knowledge in Microsoft Excel and demonstrated ability with other MS Office applications
  • Well organized and detail-oriented, able to work around interruptions
  • Excellent customer service skills and experience
