Payment Poster (Healthcare Billing)

Location: Downtown Baltimore, MD

Work Environment: 100% Onsite

Free Parking Available

Employment Type: Contract-to-Hire (6 Months)

Pay Rate: $23.00–$25.00 per hour

Shift Options:

  • Monday–Friday | 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM OR Monday–Friday | 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM
About the Opportunity

A large and respected healthcare organization is seeking an experienced Payment Poster to join its Patient Financial Services team. This position is responsible for payment posting, charge entry, reconciliation, patient account support, and assisting billing staff with a variety of administrative and financial functions. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with healthcare billing, payment posting, patient financial services, or medical office experience who are looking to grow within a stable healthcare environment.

Key ResponsibilitiesPayment Posting & Billing Support
  • Post insurance and patient payments accurately and efficiently
  • Perform charge entry and payment reconciliation
  • Review remittances and Explanation of Benefits (EOBs)
  • Research and resolve payment discrepancies
  • Process manual and electronic payment postings
  • Set up payment arrangements and payment plans
Patient Financial Services
  • Assist patients with billing-related questions
  • Accept and process patient payments and co-pays
  • Handle incoming calls from patients regarding accounts and balances
  • Provide professional and customer-focused support
Data Entry & System Management
  • Enter and maintain payment and billing information within the EMR system
  • Work from system work queues to assist with billing overflow
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation
  • Utilize Excel daily for tracking, reporting, and account management
Administrative Support
  • Assist medical billers with various departmental tasks
  • Support overall revenue cycle and patient financial services operations
  • Complete additional administrative duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 2–3+ years of payment posting experience
  • Experience with charge entry and payment reconciliation
  • Healthcare billing or patient financial services experience
  • Strong data entry and computer skills
  • Experience researching remittances and EOBs
  • Knowledge of manual and electronic payment posting
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with EPIC
  • Medical billing experience
  • Insurance verification experience
  • Patient access experience
  • Administrative support experience in a healthcare setting
