What is part time point care testing?

Part time point care testing refers to performing diagnostic tests at or near the site of patient care, such as in clinics, hospitals, or even at a patient's bedside, on a part-time basis. Professionals in this role typically work reduced hours and are responsible for conducting tests like blood glucose, cholesterol, or rapid COVID-19 screenings. The goal is to provide immediate and accurate results to aid in quick clinical decision-making. This job requires attention to detail, adherence to safety protocols, and the ability to communicate results effectively to healthcare teams.

To thrive as a Part Time Point of Care Testing professional, you need a background in laboratory sciences or allied health, basic phlebotomy skills, and often certification such as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) or Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) waiver. Attention to detail, reliability, and effective communication stand out as crucial soft skills in this role.
