Job Summary and Qualifications
  • Know policies, procedures and practices necessary to carry out the normal function of Point-of-Care Testing (POCT) program. Be aware of the role of the position and its potential impact on patient care, the work unit, the department, and facility operations.
  • Make decisions and establish priorities on procedure-oriented operations. Work in an independent manner with limited supervision.
  • Demonstrate initial and annual competency in the POCT section.
  • Prioritize work to ensure completion within the assigned shift and within expected intervals.
  • Assist lab leadership in the completion of miscellaneous duties.
  • Share daily workload within the laboratory. Make a contribution to section and department objectives.
  • Maintain constructive, open communication with supervisors, co-workers and customers. Demonstrate an awareness of patient/client expectations and seek to satisfy.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in all POCT computer related tasks, including the data management systems associated with specific tests.
  • Perform and document instrument maintenance. Perform quality control, calibration and validation according to established procedures. Troubleshoot instruments effectively, when appropriate.
  • Possess an understanding of and an ability to participate in: Laboratory QA and POCT QA, Safety Plans and Policies, Lab Billing Compliance, Code of Conduct, and HIPAA requirements as they relate to your position, the department and the facility. Respect and adhere to the mission, vision, and values of CJW Medical Center.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skill necessary to provide care and assess data appropriate to the age of the patient being served, including patient education, when applicable.
