COORDINATOR – POINT OF CARE TESTING

Location: LifeBridge Health
Department: Laboratory Services

Position Summary

The Coordinator – Point of Care Testing (POCT) oversees all aspects of point-of-care testing across LifeBridge Health campuses and physician office practices. This role ensures regulatory compliance, quality assurance, staff competency, and effective management of POCT systems, instruments, and inventory while supporting performance improvement initiatives and supervising Point of Care Testing staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure compliance with DHMH, TJC, CLIA, and CAP standards related to quality control, test performance, operator competency, and documentation.
  • Review CAP self-inspection checklists and TJC waived testing requirements.
  • Participate in CAP inspections and TJC tracer teams.
  • Oversee POCT training, competency testing, quality control, and inventory management.
  • Manage implementation of new instruments and tests, including selection, vendor coordination, validations, and documentation.
  • Analyze performance data and coordinate improvement initiatives for POCT and Nursing departments.
  • Supervise Technical Specialist – Point of Care Testing staff and serve as a resource for POCT best practices and compliance.
Qualifications

Required Experience

  • 3–5 years of relevant laboratory or POCT experience
  • Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology or Medical Laboratory Science

Preferred Skills

  • Knowledge of CLIA, CAP, TJC, and DHMH regulations
  • Experience with laboratory instrumentation and quality systems
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
