Environment: Industrial, indoor/outdoor, and non-climate-controlled

Position Summary

Openwork is seeking dependable Industrial Packaging Machine Operators for a plastic resin facility in Baytown, TX.

This is an industrial production positionnot a food-packing, order-packing, or Amazon-style fulfillment role. Packaging Operators run machinery that fills plastic resin pellets into industrial bags or containers. They also monitor the packaging process, inspect product quality, label finished materials, and prepare products for shipment.

The ideal candidate has experience operating production or packaging machinery in a manufacturing, plastics, chemical, or similar industrial environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate and monitor industrial machinery that fills plastic resin pellets into bags or containers.

  • Set up packaging materials, including bags, labels, pallets, and related supplies.

  • Monitor the packaging line to maintain a safe and steady production flow.

  • Watch for equipment problems, product blockages, damaged bags, spills, or contamination.

  • Weigh, seal, label, stack, and palletize finished bags according to customer requirements.

  • Verify product codes, labels, weights, lot numbers, and packaging specifications.

  • Perform visual quality inspections throughout the packaging process.

  • Report equipment malfunctions, quality concerns, or production issues immediately.

  • Assist with machine changeovers, line cleaning, and basic equipment adjustments.

  • Complete production and quality-control documentation accurately.

  • Keep machinery, tools, floors, and surrounding work areas clean and organized.

  • Prevent product contamination by following cleaning and material-handling procedures.

  • Follow all PPE requirements, operating procedures, safety rules, and quality standards.

  • Perform general labor and additional production duties as assigned.

Requirements
  • Previous machine operation, industrial production, manufacturing, plastics, chemical, or industrial packaging experience is strongly preferred.

  • Must be comfortable working around industrial machinery and plastic resin materials.

  • Ability to follow written operating procedures and detailed packaging instructions.

  • Ability to work rotating 12-hour day and night shifts.

  • Must be available to work weekends, holidays, overtime, and additional hours based on production needs.

  • Ability to lift up to 55 pounds repeatedly throughout the shift.

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and regularly bend, kneel, reach, climb stairs, and perform repetitive movements.

  • Comfortable working indoors and outdoors in a non-climate-controlled environment.

  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.

  • Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

  • Strong attendance, punctuality, attention to detail, and commitment to workplace safety.

  • Ability to work independently and remain focused with minimal supervision.
