Job Overview:ย ย ย 

Lead Packaging Operator is responsible for providing direction and troubleshooting in the packaging group over a packaging line. This is in addition to knowledge and skills of the highest level within the areas where direction is being given.ย 

Responsibilities:ย 

  • Understands internal customer needs and meets expectations.ย ย 

  • Knows the daily schedule and performance targets and meets expectations.ย ย ย 

  • Maintains the highest level of packaging skills.ย ย 

  • Identifies personal development needs and seeks training to fill gaps.ย ย 

  • Understands packaging standards and how to modify processes to meet standards.ย  Ensures standards are being met.ย ย 

  • Provides guidance to others in the packaging work group including troubleshooting problems.ย ย ย 

  • Assist or replace operators when necessary; maintains an efficient process.ย ย 

  • Notify Supervisor or Lead Person of disciplinary or performance issues.ย 

  • Provide input to Supervisor or Lead Person recommendations for fostering morale.ย 

  • Ensures complete compliance with ISO, FAMIQS, HAACP and other registrations within plant if necessary.ย ย ย 

  • Communicates with the Packaging and Processing teammates.ย ย 

  • Responsible for accomplishing equipment inspections as necessary and coordinating work orders and callouts of maintenance personnel to meet acceptable plant performance as defined by Plant Manager.ย ย 

  • Ensures areas are clean and free of clutter and that all safety and environmental rules, regulations, and precautions are followed.ย

Qualifications:ย ย 

Education:ย ย 

  • High school diploma or equivalent.ย ย

  • Must meet the assessment requirements for this position.ย 

Skills & Abilities:ย 

  • Must possess and utilize a basic level of computer literacy in all Microsoft products plus CMMS and QMS program.ย 

  • Must be able to read, comprehend, and act on product specifications, SOPโ€™s (Standard Operating Procedures), PWI (Process Work Instructions), AIQ processes, and similar documents.ย 

  • Must have good interpersonal skills to provide leadership including good verbal and written communication skills.ย ย 

  • Understand the concept of ownership of the process.ย 

  • Must be able to analyze data and direct team members to meet quality and production objectives.ย ย 

  • Must understand all safety requirements to ensure compliance with rules, regulations, and precautions.ย ย 

  • Must possess a willingness to work on rotating shifts and assist operators to maintain an efficient process.ย ย 

  • Must possess basic mechanical aptitude.ย 

  • Must be able to visually monitor electronic equipment and control panels, interpret the data and take appropriate actions.ย ย 

  • Must be able to read and comprehend product specifications.ย ย ย 

  • Must have functional understanding of process controls.ย ย 

  • Must understand all safety requirements and other communications.ย ย 

  • Must be able to enter and retrieve data from computer databases.ย ย 

  • Must be willing to make decisions within the scope of his responsibilities and be accountable for those decisions.ย
