DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES?

This position will perform product (Coil) packaging, railcar coil loading, coil movement within warehouse to support department key performance requirements. The selected team member must be able to demonstrate required skill sets as described in The Basics below.

The Basics:

  • High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED)
  • Previous working experience in related position, such as industrial warehouse, heavy machinery operation, manufacturing, or logistics, is required
  • At least 1 year of experience in high paced industrial position is required - 4 years of military experience and/or certain industrial related college degrees may be accepted in lieu of industrial experience
  • Must be able to demonstrate required skill sets (Coil Prep and Hand Packing requirements, Upgrade packaging requirements, Operating Coil Master, Identification of Quality Defects, etc…)
  • Ability to follow workflow diagrams and written work instructions
  • Basic knowledge in manufacturing process systems
  • Basic computer skills including MS Office
  • Ability to accurately read a tape measure (metric/standard)
  • Ability to perform material handling or equipment operation (i.e., forklift, floor sweeper, etc.) and continuous manual labor
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work including lifting and/or moving up to 50 lbs. utilizing proper lifting techniques
  • Ability to be a self-starter, follow directions, and work in a team environment
  • Ability to adapt and prioritize to variable mill requirements

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

  • Responsible for scanning/recording coil info for packaging type and pertinent information
  • Responsible for packaging coils, preparing railcars for loading coils, support staging coils for barge shipments
  • Responsible for ensuring work area consumable inventories are stocked
  • Responsible for ensuring production is at max efficiency and that we meet or exceed department performance targets
  • Verification of the identification number on the coil being packaged in conjunction with the number per the TWMS display and reporting and addressing any discrepancies
  • Visually inspect coils for damage and/or broken banding and report and address as needed
  • Responsible for the safety, order, and cleanliness of the coil/packaging area and equipment
  • Ensure the coils are packaged to customer specification and shipped without quality defects as last eyes on product
  • Ensure mixed steel does not get shipped by following ArcelorMittal Calvert procedure
  • Responsible for transporting coils to and from packing, loading and re-work areas
  • Responsible for properly tagging out and storing broken or non-conforming tools in the workstation.

  • Shift Work – Rotating 12 hour shifts to include days, nights, weekends, and holidays
